** NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 900 SERIES PRICE DROP!! **

Gimped or not it beats everything else and single fastest card is the best way to play, when the Ti comes out I'll get that as well, but wouldn't get excited about that yet, they'll be a £1200 Titan 3 months before it.

would you guys say then a gtx 980ti EVGA SC w/ backplate (6months old) @ 300 is a fair offer? this is taking into account the "leaks" for the r9 480?

Sounds good to me (bearing in mind I'm hoping to bag a ti at around £200 or so once the 480 is out and the 1070 / 1060 are in plentiful supply at revised retail prices) second hand prices for the 9xx are only going one way.

I wouldn't personally pay £300 for a second hand card no matter what it was although that's more to do with my justification of paying such a price when I game rarely alas.

I certainly don't see £300 being achievable in a few months time.

I'm really not sure what to do. I don't want to pay anymore than £375 for a new card (I'm currently using on-board), which basically means I'm torn between a 980/980Ti/1070. What do you guys recommend out of the following given what my spec is?

i5 6600K @ Stock
MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon
16GB DDR4-3000
850 Evo 250GB SSD
SuperNOVA G2 650W PSU
BenQ XL2411Z

Will any cheaper 1070 cards be hitting the market soon?

I'm not sure why people are even contemplating the 980ti over 1070

1070 same speed 2 GB more vram same cost...

It's not hard lol :p

Not the same cost though for the same pre over locked aftermarket cooler version of same brand. It's £30+ more expensive.

But yes I would agree, it's worth finding the extra money as when drivers mature the 1070 will get faster still

The 1070, no question. Personally, I'd pay the extra fiver and go for either the Gainward Phoenix or Palit Jetstream model though. Not that the KFA2 is likely to be bad, but the Phoenix and the Jetstream both use the same awesome cooler (since they're just two different brands from the same company), just with a different shroud. I had their 980 Ti that also used the same cooler and it's the quietest card I've ever owned.

Agreed. The gain ward family seem to be making cracking coolers and getting rave reviews putting the mainstream vega, as us and gigabyte to shame. The leading brands seem to be asking fifty pound more for worse cooling and performance.

Most cards are somehow gimped. Mostly due to cost effectiveness though!

I think the problem is this time that no matter what components are used, which chokes, how much power, what cooling that it's just a silicon lottery. So long as your card has adequate cooling then it's going to perform as well as a £100 more expensive premium brand.
