** NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 900 SERIES PRICE DROP!! **

Don't see any issue with what people offer for the 980 on mm, end of the day the seller only has to say no.

We all love a bargain

These price cuts for nvidia is a good indicator they know something I'd say.

They know how many 9** cards there are in the channel. And they know they have 2 weeks until they are thoroughly in the previous generation and there for will be harder to sell no matter what.

Long term if two cards, one new one last get have similar performance, the new card will best itself with newer drivers over time and obviously hold its value far longer. People who rather buy a 980ti over a 1070 for the sake of 2 fps if that are bonkers. However thier money thier choice I guess. I'd go newer gen every time, especially 1070 v 980ti if I was buying now or the near future.

An interesting question about second hand value of a 980ti then -

Card A is 2 years old but has a warranty of 5 years thus has 3 years left of the warranty.

Card B is 30 days old but only has a 3 year warranty.

You pay less for Card A because it's older but how much less? They have the same amount of warranty and surely that's what matters?

What dictates second hand value? The length of time it has been previously owned? Why is that? The amount of warranty left?

That's the quirk with used technology people treat it like a second hand car market almost yet the warranty left on these second hand cards can be as much as a brand new model of a different brand so while you might have to take some time out to RMA the thing you are still effectively covered.

Is there the general assumption that anything 2nd hand automatically reduces it's value by 50% because someone else opened the box? How old does it have to be before that is the case.

Just curious as to people's thoughts.

There will be an initial glut of used 980tis as people rush to try and get the best price, I then expect prices to stabilise as they become in demand for people wishing to go SLI rather than sell up and buy into Pascal mid range for £650.

people comparing the 1080 to 980 Ti in 3d mark, yes it doesn't look like a big difference though reading the MSI GTX 1080 review on techpowerup that was posted today and the asus review posted on HEXUS it shows they're anywhere from 30-50% faster than a stock 980 Ti, now add at best 25% performance increase from a heavily overclocked 980 Ti we're still looking at a 20% performance boost add an additional 5-10% increase when overclocking the 1080 and we're back upto 20-30% faster than a 980 Ti both overclocked, now at 4k with the extra Vram so no stuttering in certain games (BO3 ROTTR) I'll happily take that at the cost of £97 considering I sold my 980 Ti classified for £500 8 weeks ago :D
