You’re maybe not as CPU limited as you think. I ran one of the same benchmarks for you at your settings with my MSI 3090 and [email protected]...

Metro Exodus: 41.5

But I did also run Forza Horizon at 4K ultra preset and got 164.6fps average. Assuming that matches your settings then yeah, you are missing out on a lot of performance there.

I could also give you more/better comparisons on FH4, SOTTR, GTA5 and Alien Isolation, but would need a lot more information on your graphics settings in each of those cases.

Hey, thanks for the post. I have a feeling that maybe the bottleneck might scale though, that few frames in Metro Exodus in another game that benchmarks at 60FPS average for me might be 75 for you or something. I’d imagine that the games where the difference between the the two cards isn’t as big, those are the more CPU bound titles and that Forza example seems to suggest that.

I’ll post some settings tonight on the other games if you are up to trying them.

Thanks.

Hoping for my first queue update today, although given I preordered this week I’m going to be opening the email whilst looking through a small gap in my fingers and some clenched teeth :D

MSI Gaming X Trio 3090 arrived this morning after 30mins of clicking add to basket yesterday elsewhere.

Just put my cancellation in with OC this morning so everyone behind position 8 goes up one.

Was an interesting journey and hope folks get their cards soon!

I'm queue no 33 for Strix card... i don't expect to see one before Christmas :(

It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took my pre-order cash away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took my pre-order cash away
Since you been gone I can do nothing I want
I can't afford a single thing
I can't eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

Just an idea.

How about putting gibbos post at the top of the 3080 and 3090 threads?
It seams some people here don't see the news.
People don’t read the OP, as evidenced by the competitor discussion... asking them to go there for news isn’t going to happen.

Plus I cba to edit the OP every time there’s an update :p

I can guarantee GTA V grass quality set at ultra still destroys frames at high resolutions on a 3090. :D

I've found GTA doesn't like ryzen CPUs. My mate has an i7 gen 5 with a 1080 and me with a ryzen 9 3950x with a 2080ti and he was getting better fps than me. He even had his settings a little higher than me. Spoke to a few people with different cpus and intel seemed to be better for GTA.

May find that changes with Ryzen 5950X ;)

On the 24th of September inno3d posted on social media that their gpu on the shelves and we need to reach our retailer.?..
I have emailed them yesterday and told them about their posting and what is happening with rtx gpu as I bought rtx3090 x3 and their replay was that social media posting was wrong and there is high demand on the nvidia gpu..... inno3d contradicting themselves.... unbelievable
My queue is number 6 on the inno3d rtx 3090 x3

It is poor, they don't seem to be replying to any comments on twitter either. If they sent some to the UK then it would most likely sort out a lot of the pre orders due to the low amount that has been ordered. You would think they would try and fulfill ones that would be easy.

I just cancelled (Asus 3090 Strix non-oc)...

Don't blame OCUK at all, this decision lies totally with Nvidia's poor planning and poor launch, and Asus being slow and unclear with their OC/Non-OC skews of the same card.

Going to buy some Big Navi from OCUK on the launch, and move from a 3950X to a 5900X.

Good luck all o/

From what JayTwoCents said about it. Definitely should make a big difference. Not gonna up grade my CPU just yet. Only upgraded a few months ago.

Yeah, I only got my 3950X in April... Not a fan of the chip tbh, they're a bit of a con...

They have one fantastically binned CCD that has at least one core that will do the promised boost speed, and the second CCD is a steaming pile that can barely boost... Yet you're paying more than 2x the price of the 3900X... I was expecting 2 good CCDs.

Going to move it into my 2nd rig which is currently running a 3800X, give the 3800X to my girlfriend, and then plop a 5900X into my main gaming rig.

Here you go. Literally every single slider maxed (including grass quality) in both graphics settings and advanced, +4xMSAA + TXAA. Resolution was 'true' 4K, at 4096x2160, which is pushing a fair few more pixels than 16:9 4K...
Frames Per Second (Higher is better) Min, Max, Avg
Pass 0, 11.551012, 130.045776, 103.701447
Pass 1, 14.554219, 100.014999, 63.281574
Pass 2, 16.309036, 187.346603, 88.897240
Pass 3, 14.524666, 183.022812, 106.458359
Pass 4, 12.400486, 166.964417, 91.471115

Same, but with no AA:
