**NVIDIA GTX 480 IS BACK - TRULY INCREDIBLE PRE-ORDER DEAL!**

MSI Afterburner shows the rpm. I ask because I have had Asus GTX 480 which had if I remember right, 2040 rpm idle. Gigabyte GTX 480 has 1620 rpm at idle. So there's a massive difference in idle noise.

I'd just like to know to which group this belongs to.

1620 rpm rings a bell so I would say that, it is quiet on idle my case fans are
louder!

I got a Artic twin turbo 2 it got a better review than the Geild icy. ;)

The maximum a 480GTX can draw is 300W I think (75W via slot, 75W 6-pin, 150W 8-pin), so unless you have SLI cards or an overclocked Bulldozer/SB-E drawing 400W then a 750W PSU should be easily enough for most systems.

PCI-E 2.0 slot is 150W

so 150W +150W + 75W :)

one of the reasons why I think my 480 needs way more volts than it should as I'm running it ona PCI-E 1.1 slot

PCI-E 2.0 slot is 150W

I seem to remember reading somewhere about this and there were 2 points of view:

1) that the PCI-E 2.0 specification allows for 150W through the PCI-E slot but that this has never been implemented by any motherboard manufacturers

2) that "150W through the slot" was misunderstood and it actually referred to the 150W 8 pin PCI-E power connector from the PSU

Either way I believe a PCI-E 2.0 slot still only delivers 75W.

Itchy, got any pictures with it installed?

Interested to see it fitted.

Cheers

Will do later, she needs a clean anyway!! :)

Oh yes when i removed my case I dont have a 850w icute power supply, its
700w  ...lol even worse! I remember now my psu went pop and the missus was in town I said get me a psu from ......, I had seen an 850w on offer when she got there they hardly had anything in.

So thats the story of how me and iCute got together it was ment to be ! :D

Dont think I am going to get much overclocking done with 700w! :p

Quick update after playing skyrim last niight for a few hours and monitoring temps the card reached a whopping 70c! :D

Side note internal case and cpu temps got a little high until I turned the case fans up to 2.

How long did the curing take for you in the end itchy? I ended up having to leave mine for over a day :o

And the glue on the TT2 can be rubbed off with your finger, so you can re-fit the cooler on multiple cards with nothing more than some more of the adhesive compound.

[edit] AXLAndy, that picture you have shows the Twin Turbo. The cooler me and itchy are running is the Twin Turbo 2. I believe it's been upgraded which is where the discrepancy between your experiences and ours comes from.

Heat sinks oh so many heat sinks!! Spot the botch job because they only gave me 11 memory sinks, the 480 has 12!

In the Pc with a few bits removed to see better!

It was not easy to fit had to improvise here and there but done it the end.
PVA glue is a godsend! ;)

6 Hours then the hair dryer came out, the glue i had left was only just setting this morning. 5 hour cure my a..e!

I know but she will be getting retired soon then i will sort the wiring out!;)

Thanks Itchy looks good mate good job.

Aside from a ram sink short did it come with enough sinks to do the VRMs? it looks as though it might.

Yes VRMS and few others, I had to use two halfs for the last mem chip so was short for 4 small chips and as you can see from the pic i used 2 L shape types that just about fit! ;)

yeah if it's true about 2.0 specification supporting 150W through the slot then it might just be that for backwards compatiblity reasons it was never adopted and they decided to make use of the PSU connectors instead, I'd imagine the 6-pin/8-pin straight from the PSU offer a cleaner supply too.

Hope you get a new PSU when you get another case and call the bomb squad to get rid of your iCrap! :D

iCrap! how dare you!!!! :D Its iCute and she is modula and has a sexy blue light coming from the fan  but you cannot see it in a P190! :p

looking good itchy! how much did you have to spend on the aftermarket heatsink?

£40 all inc next day del! Oh and about 2-3 hours of your time sticking the bloody thing together, fiddly as @!£$, but worth it! ;)
