***NVIDIA GTX 580's IN STOCK - BE QUICK!***

Just one more thing, can you tell us how you went from 860 core and 62 FPS to a 5% overclock from 860 core to 900 core and gained 17% extra FPS. That's truly amazing.

Heres a 860mhz-2350 580gtx which is not really a good overclocker taking an overclocked 480gtx to town by some 15%.
And all at the same time doing it quieter and more efficently than before.

Here we go 580GTX at 900/1175 tears chunks out of the overclocked 480gtx 850/1000

30% anyone?

I can see why people argue over the performance of hardware but the cost and if it is good value is just not worth arguing about. You're going to have a very different perception of cost if you earn £15k rather than £50k. After all if you run a BMW or Merc you've lost thousands as soon as you left the showroom, £200 over the odds on a GPU doesn't seem like a lot by comparison...

Sadly I'm not in the rolling in cash bracket...yet :)

As I said raven throwing a shed loads of graphs from review sites dont mean squat.
I play the just cause on 580gtx OC and you on your 480gtx. I get 30% quicker fps. Its as simple as that.
I get to play with 60fps all the time on with vsynch and you got to endure 40fps dips+

Some games you might get 10% some 20% some like just cause2 30%.

"normalized performance" rolfcopter.

Can you actually now compare in game just cause 2 performance and not one of the canned benchmarks.

I own 1x GTX480 and 2x GRX580 SLI (different PC's). The 480 cost over £400 when new but my 580's cost £365 & £342 respectively (I waited for deals rather than impulse purchased at high prices). The 580's additional performance is noticeable, but not by lots. The best thing about the 580's is that they run much cooler and quieter, and unlike my 480 they do not buzz slightly under load. The 580's also overclock much better.

Personally I think the 570 is the best option, and if they were available when I got my first 580, I would have gone that way instead. GTX570 = GTX480 with cool running and less noise plus better overclocks.

The 580 is a superb card and a single one plays all of my games at max settings, 8xAA, 1920x1200. SLI is just for benchmarks:).

To be fair to OCUK they have admitted the prices are high because otherwise they would get 100's of orders for cards they cannot source right now so not much point offering them too cheaply as all that will happen (and its happened before a lot with high end in demand cards) is they drop the prices & get swamped with orders which they then have to refund as they cannot get the stock so no-one wins. If Nvidia can produce more stock the prices will fall back but early Jan is apparently when Nvidia will have the next large batch ready in the meantime they trickle into stock & sell out everywhere quickly........

I bought mine for £399.97 which is about right price wise for the performance/features AFAIC.

seems like a rip off when i've just got 2x 470's from MM form £280 which will destroy both set ups for less money but like people have said if you want the best you have to pay through the nose for it its like comparing a race car to a road car the race car might do it 10% faster but is it worth 10x as much ?some people yes most people no

A race car is suppose to be as fast as it can, maintaining other features on the highest level as well (not going to list them all though). The best thing about owning a fancy sports car on the other hand is certainly not its ability to go as fast as the racing cars.

Seriously poor comparison.

Forgive my ignorance but looking at all the cards, they all seem pretty much the same but have different prices - what exactly is the difference? Is it just different brands cost more?

Trade secrets my son. trade secrets.
CPU & Memory are both highly overclocked on the second bench.
Unlike your friend martini I dont concoct results at home.

How are we supposed to do that? Fraps video or fraps fps dumps?
Please enlighten me.

Do we know when the EVGA 580's will be in stock on ocuk? i ordered mine elsewhere because of the 60 pound ish cheaper. but they have no stock either yet.
