Games that don't use much GPU usage will downclock. ARMA is awful for it as it rarely goes above 50% usage.

The MSI has chips on the back and mine does 8000mhz, I have a 230mm side fan blowing air over the back though.
The MSI is nowhere near as bad, 2 larger fans and the max is like 2200rpm I think.
Nice, I don't run benchmarks these days but would be interested to see if there really is any improvement.

I've owned both as well Greg and the 970 was a cracking card, I never experienced any stutter with it. I never got to use it at 1440p though so it may start to show stutter then.

I'm not sure any of the 970's are cherry picked.
Maybe the KFA2 Hall of Fame Edition, but I'm quite certain the G1's aren't cherry picked. There's usually a substantial price increase for cherry picked cards.
Always seems to be a premium with ASUS cards or anything ASUS tbh, particularly any "special" models and the boost clock on that card seems pretty low compared to others.
For overclocking it's pretty much luck of the draw unless you can actually find out whether some cards are cherry picked.

I've decided to update the OP to be more like Kaapstad's owners threads as they look very good.
I'll be adding to it as I have time, I'll need to redo the roll of honor as it was extremely outdated and lacking of owners so if you want to be on it just respond to this
Alternatively as I don't own the card anymore if there's a 970 owner who would like to run a 970 owners thread I will get a mod to close this one so you can start a fresh one
