NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Leave heaven looping for a while when you can or just play some games for a lengthy period. Certain games will work fine others will probably crash at those clocks. Diablo 3 seems to hate an overclock, can play for 2 hours and it will be fine, then go on the next day and get a driver reset within half an hour. Games like BF4, ARMA 3 and Planetside 2 don't crash at all.

To be honest Diablo 3 doesn't even need an overclock so I may just switch to stock clocks while playing that, could also be the fact of new drivers on a new card but I'd have to check if other people have had crashes on 9 series cards. Max bench stable and max game stable can sometimes be a fair distance apart.

So you can hit 1580 then :p that's nothing to moan about if it's stable in gaming.

I think there's a few of us who want to push for more but even if we can't that's a lot of performance for the money, above a stock 980.

The built in game scaler isn't as good as doing it through DSR. I've just tested DSR on my 1080p monitor on BF4 and it worked fine at 4k 144hz, albeit the performance took a massive hit, 2560x1440 with no AA at 144hz was good though and gave me a better image and more performance than 1080p with 4xAA

Just read this review which includes overclocking the MSI 970: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014...70_gaming_4g_video_card_review/8#.VC8AXhZcjT0

It's really well written and helps you understand the best method of overclocking. I had mine at +170 on the Core and didn't realise why it was throttling... it was because there wasn't enough power going to that card. I've upped to maximum voltage and it's perfect now.

EDIT: Strange I've got my OC the same as them in AB but my maximum clock in gaming is just 1512 not 1542 that they achieve.

Don't know what's up there as +150 doesn't give me 1542mhz like they got.

That's an awesome card you've got there Scramz, over 14k graphics score on 3dmark is an amazing score for the so called mid range card :D

You can tell from your graph though in GPU-Z that the card is throttling quite badly at that clock, 1630 was the max but it seems it was running lower than that for most of the run. Thing is it looks like custom bios won't be possible at the moment :/

There's no way your PSU is holding you back unless it's faulty. Even overclocked one of the reviews showed under 400w system load I think it was. To get rid of tearing completely you need to use sync, so vsync or gsync. One has its drawbacks the other is expensive.
