Thought it was kind of funny that a year ago i was foaming around the mouth
at the prospect of a few gtx480's with the heat and power consumption excitement nose-dived and i started looking for replacements.

This Gtx560ti seems to me to be the gtx 480 done right and with nvidia upping the cores from 384 to 448 i think this will be a popular "bang per buck " card with folders and crunchers.

Remains to be seen if retailers will jolly up the prices but only 17 days to go until we find out..

Your thoughts please ( i am no expert so dont go bashing me about) :D

I hate it when we get two variants with the same name - really needs to be called the GTX565 or the 560 Ultra or something like that.

True on the 2 variants i think maybe Nvidia are going to release the low end 6 series first cant think why they chose to upgrade the 560ti now?

I think it's because we're getting HD7850 and 7870 next month, but Kepler won't be ready until Feb/March. This card is designed to compete with the 7870, and the 7850 will take on the standard GTX560Ti (if you believe the rumoured specifications).

doubtful as the 78xx will almost certainly have 2gb of ram and will be much cooler. Just depends on price though at the end of the day.

If nvidia wanted to grab sales away from 7800 then all they need to do it lower the price of the 570 and 580 to undercut them

They could get in trouble for doing that if AMD can prove its predator pricing. Especially after the epic fail bulldozer was.

well the image the OP has supplied us with shows the "pris" in Norwegian Krone, with the new card fitting exactly halfway between the existing 560Ti and the 570.
so I reckon £200-220, but possibly £199 with a slight drop in price (maybe £10) of the existing 560Ti card.

That would be a good price if it really was a re-badged 570 but if it's just a gimped 570 which still runs hotter than the 560Ti I don't see the point in it, at all.

I mean, what's the overclock potential on a card like this if it's so hot?

580 was the 480 done right. This card looks sweet just need to get the pricing right.

Yeah, not really sure what the OP is on about, a year ago today, the 480gtx had been out for 6 months, and the 580gtx was basically launched or days away.

It was 2 years ago the 480gtx was being shown around with wood screws in it and expectations (for those who read Charlie) being confirmed, and for the rest, the idea that 480gtx isn't going to be out any time soon.

The new 560ti looks, crap though. set to be priced where, the GTX570 was about 6-8 months ago when it was really competing for sales at £225, a new cut down version at the same cost now seems meh.

At least people DO NOT BUY ON RELEASE. It's a marketing ploy, they don't want to crash GTX570 pricing on the 7870/7970 release so they want a version of it that seems to be a midrange card(easier to sell 330mm2 cards at £150 to analysts than 530mm2 cards at £150, with Nvidia appearance is almost everything).

These cards will probably be horrible on launch, and after AMD cards launch, priced quite nicely as it will likely get a price crash to something relatively competitive.

But you'll still be looking at a 210W, hopefully not cheap out on power components(but unlike wanting high clocking 560ti's to compete with AMD, they really want the cheapest gf100 they can possibly make) 560ti vs a 7870 that uses half the power, potentially overclocks like mad and, well we've yet to see if there are any new killer features, besides of course stuff like eyefinity on one card.

It might have 2GB of RAM but 1280MB will be ample for the majority and whilst it runs hotter, it's all about how that heat is cleared away rather than how much of it there is.

So, they are just repositioning and renaming the existing GF110 GTX570 to GTX560TI?

This seems strange, even by NVidia standards. Perhaps a revised GTX570 is also due?

What about the MSI 560ti 2gb one ? is that any good ?
I would usually tell folks to get the 2GB version over the 1Gb, but the price difference isn't worth it.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-247-AS today only deal is £72 cheaper!

There is no way I'd spend that amount for 1GB extra vram!

There used to be only ~£10 difference between the 6950 1GB and 2GB, although they are way overpriced too now considering they are about to be replaced.

The 560ti DCII TOP can also be found for £178 with 2 free games elsewhere.
