*****NVIDIA PRICE DROP - OcUK First NVIDIA GTX 460's from £99.99 +VAT!*****

Nice, nVidia are really on the warpath with pricing. Consumer wins :)

Still glad i bought a 1GB card personally, but these are fantastic value for money. I plan to buy a second 1GB card in the new year when prices have dropped and i upgrade the rest of the system to Sandy Bridge.

Would rather pay the extra for the 1gb tbh..and happy i did..bought all my new rig 2 weeks ago then day after prices crashed..oh well..

I don't have an SLI-capable mobo myself, but would these cheap 768MB cards be a good pair for someone who already has a 1GB one? Does SLI work asymmetrically, or is it like Crossfire that can only utilise as much VRAM as the lowest of the two cards has?

Those prices are madness!!

Andy

They're very fine (OcUK Value and Asus ones), we're talking 4890 performance levels with DirectX 11, very good SLI scaling, lower heat output and power consumption.

5830's out of the market.

Guys remember 1GB ones don't just have extra memory, they are also 256-Bit memory interface so for users playing games at 1920x1080 or higher the 1GB card does offer quite a performance boost. :)

5830 cannot keep up with a 4890 that could be had for half its price at launch. Both are slower than 460 768MB in almost all case scenarios.

I got the 768mb one not long after release..... could have saved £30 if I had a little more faith in my old 9800gt. Still happy to pay for the card at the price but my god £118??? It ****es on the 5770s whilst giving 5830 performance..... Bought my Antec300 a month ago and now the Haf 912 is announced..... Bought 4gb of budget kingston ram then saw some corsairs on offer for the same price per gig..... I could go on but i would merely cry.... Fully happy with my system but the grass does always seem greener.....

9% difference at 1920x1200, I'd struggle to justify the extra.

True for games that don't use much VRAM, but as soon as you play something that approaches 1GB performance will drop like a stone on the 768MB.

These are still awesome prices though for anyone who doesn't use high levels of AA or games at 1680x1050.

What games do you have in mind? With the 1GB you can get anywhere from 5-15% performance boost in games. I wouldn't say it's worth £40-50 extra, especially if we're looking at this price point.

IM SO £$:%@£:$%@£$% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i bought a 1gb version a few weeks back. If i had know these would drop in price i would have bought 2 768mb cards! Unless theres a super hack where i can sli a 1gb version with a 768mb version?

Well with the 8800GTS you could SLI a 320 with a 640 and with the 8800GT you could SLI a 512Mb with a 1Gb they just were both limited to the lower memory amount.

However with these its not just the memory thats different its the memory bus as well so im not sure its possible

These an upgrade from a hd4890?

Completely out of the loop as far as graphics cards go. Last time I paid attention it was the gtx 280 vs hd 4870x2/hd5870.

Wow thats a decent upgrade, but how much of a difference would the lower ram make to those figures?
I game at 1920x1200.
