Grates on me that £450+ 3070 and £650+ 3080 is the norm now for a mid/high end graphics card.
I might just take up some other hobbies.
i too am not able to derive the same level of enjoyment from playing games..used to be a lot of fun 5 years ago..
what kind of hobbies do people generally pursue once they are completely fed up of gaming?
I like outdoor stuff to compliment the indoor gaming. cycling, kayaking, hill climbing, running. Important to have balance.i too am not able to derive the same level of enjoyment from playing games..used to be a lot of fun 5 years ago..

Yeah. Nvidia marketing and mindshare, has that impact on people, HACO comes to mindYou're not the only one.
£650 once got you the top of the line card (not including Titans here) in the 1080 Ti.
Now it gets you a Vram gimped second tier card...and suddenly its got people raving it's some kind of a bargain!

Just realised that the only card that will even FIT in my decent sized case are the FE and the Ventus lol.
The 3080 is the flagship CONSUMER card with the 3070 being the mid range. The 3090 is meant to be a card for pro's but as we are on a forum surrounded by super enthusiasts talk of buying a 3090 as a consumer card is common but elsewhere not so much.......the low vram count is another story though

Look at fresh post from jump in 1080p is very small growing with resolution. I'm buying for 4k gaming anyway so 1080p and 1440p does not matter to me. For me its 4K VR and Raytracing as I.m buying purely for Wow shadowlands Raytracing and Cyberpunk 2077 as someone that played cyberpunk 2020 with mates while drinking cheap wine in old abounded train. Good timesIt's bound to be higher it's 1080p.
What matters I think to most is 4k, that's the next leap up everyone wants if they are hooked up to their shiny new 4k TVs.

Going from that it's definitely worth it, for me coming from a 1080ti that pretty much destroys anything in 1440p is not really worth it if it can't muster up the next resolution satisfactory.
