NVIDIA's & ATI's Latest Pricing as of end of this week!

£350-£450 GTX 580 why such a big difference???it include overclock edition or due to very poor supply?

Poor supply, if there was 1000's in the channel you'd probably see them going for around £370ish, but stock is tighter than a tight thing, hence prices as high as £500 and they still sell.

Taking HD 6970 £305 - £340 rate and this line

and taking the fact the gibbo got a Huge stock to make a pyramid a huge 1 give me a feeling that there is no way HD 6970 is more then 5% slower then GTX 580

The latest benchmarks we've seen have the 6970 at like 20-25% faster than the GTX 570, which is around or just a bit slower than the 580.

The 580gtx is less than 20% faster than the 570gtx in most things from looking at Anandtech's review numbers ;)

Seriously why was there EVER any question AMD wouldn't blow away Nvidia on price performance, its their ENTIRE STRATEGY, for years now.

I also seem to recall a LOAD of people saying it would be priced exactly in line with the 580gtx, so 10% faster, 10% more, 5% slower, 5% less, I rubbished that aswell, because it flies in the face of every release by AMD for the past 3 years.

Now, when Nvidia cuts pricing on the 570/580gtx a LOT, they might be quite good, but Nvidia doesn't want to cut prices by as much as they are going to have to.

And as you mentioned in the other thread that the current benches we have seen so far have been conducted with underclocked 6900 series as no current drivers support 6900 series. So the powertune overdrive is still a factor which needs to be considered for overclocked 6900 series.

Your forgetting the context... people said they would be priced inline with the GTX580 if things were as Raven's "source" said and were 30-40% faster, as most people said if they were slower they'd be priced well below it. I can't remember anyone suggesting it would be based on % more/less money based on % more/less performance. People were suggesting they'd be around £400 if they were 30-40% faster than the 580 and £350-360 if they were slower than the 580.

320 £ + log in Irish vat + delivery 340£ i guess asus 6970 for me if i cant find any cheaper.

OCUK should really sort there VAT when you log in (you will get more customers then ) , dont want to pay Irish VAT when i buy from UK .

Stock is probably a lot higher than he expected so they can't put as much early adopter tax on the cards.

Or performance is a lot lower than expected.:p

Smart money is on a bit of both. AMD are pushing more 6970s out because they had good yields (apparently), but early indications suggest the card sits somewhere between the GTX 570 and GTX 580, so the second price is much better.

I was just wondering what OcUK product buyers would have to say, did they buy any at that high price or was it reduced by supplier or what?

Well AMD were biging it up as the "next R300"... personally I think they couldn't get sufficent quantities at the clock speeds they wanted. Which does mean a lot of them should overclock quite well.
