NVIDIA's & ATI's Latest Pricing as of end of this week!

The R300 rumor was 100% Fudzilla, who btw is NOT pro-AMD - he's pro-NV and seems to have actual sources there, while with AMD he has next to none

Yep, but ive made a few modifications to my case cooling, hung a 120mm 1500 rpm fan behind the cards.

It allows me to use auto fan when gaming, therefore keeping noise very low, temps in game hit 76-77c, gpu fans dont go over 50%, above 60% they do get pretty loud. But i only set the fan to manual when running higher clocks for benchmark runs.

See my build log in sig. I did something similar when I had 4870's in crossfire

@Gibbo

i believe you can answer this question

if you were building a rig for yourself what will you put inside your system if there is no issue of budget

HD 6970 or GTX 580

No budget, spend as much as I want, then a pair of GTX 580's along with 3x BenQ 24" 3D Monitors. :D

You did say no budget. ;)

If however I was building to a budget and wanted best value for money then either a pair of 6950 or a single 6970. :)

GTX 480 1536MB = £250-£270 **EOL**
GTX 570 1280MB = £250-£290

Not sure the 480 is a good buy over the 570. 570 is cooler users less power and slightly better performance.

Not a good deal.

This is a great post though Gibbo thanks especially in this economic climate and XMAS

Remember VAT 20% in january folks.

Does the 480 not pull it back at higher resolution, especially once you crank up the AA/AF due to 384-Bit interface and extra memory?

so glad i bought gtx580 on release, didn't wait for the ati card.

so at similar price to gtx570, for 6970, am i right in presuming it will perform between 570 and 580? it's always ATI's strategy to price their cards slightly lower than nvidia even if they've got exactly same performance.
