Some 465's were just 470's with all the memory chips with a different bios.
I think they were Asus and POV

Correct. The gpu core is labelled as a gtx470 and all the memory chips are there as well. They are just disabled in bios. Slap on a 470 bios and you have a full blown gtx470. I think there was another manufacturer as well selling gtx470's with gtx465 bios.
And in case anybody is wondering about how much they cost, they did indeed only cost £300 as I sold both mafia 2 vouchers.

Of the 12 cards we have tested, 4 "unlocked", 3 recognized the BIOS but didn't "unlock" and 5 are now paper weights. When did you get these 465 GTX what make is it.
And do you know if all 465 gtx can be unlocked or is there a failure rate?

Not really, I did my research. That quote you gave they were trying to flash the gtx470 bios on a normal gtx465 without the full memory chips.
AFIK with the POV gtx465 there was 100% success rate on these forums (30+ cards) and I have yet to come across a failed one on any forum.
The only thing that varies is that some cards after the flash need slightly more voltage than standard to be 100% stable at standard clocks. Hence why they are failed gtx470 cards rebadged as gtx465 cards.
Still great value for money though. Have some more benchmarks

Greebo, what PSU are you running.
Seasonix M12 850W - very nice psu.
Can't pass comment on current POV cards but certainly the last batch ocuk got in were gtx470 rebadged. Doesn't mean to say new ones aren't real gtx465. Not kept abreast of things since I got my ones.
