NVIDIA's Upcoming 7950GT & 7900GS

I think the second picture is kind of stupid with it comparing an nvidia card with 24 pixel pipelines with ATi's 12, nvidia's with 512mb to ATi's 256mb and only scoring slightly higher in 3dmark06 :o

LMAO not these again.

Someones gona do the ATi ones again now. :D

BTW they aint real, these things get done all the time, theres been some well funny ones in the past. :p

I am looking into upgrading my graphics card soon, and I have definitely got my eye on this Nvidia refresh. The word through the grapevine is that it may offer 7900GTX performance at a price just as aggressive as ATI have been lately. All I can say is that it better be cheap, as Nvidia's recent disabilities when it comes to price, image quality, and reliability have really put me off for a while.

As for that article, all I can say is: LMFAO! :D :D :D

We see these stupid things all the time. Anonymous email submissions by people claiming to work for Nvidia and ATI, usually full of horrible spelling and punctuation errors, and almost always entirely inaccurate.

For example: Why on earth would someone even remotely important at Nvidia say they were going to "kick ATI while they're down"? ATI has practically dominated the high-end graphics market for over a year now, and Nvidia have lately had the worst failure rate of any graphics card in years.

Makes me larf. :p

Those slides don't sound implausable.....they just aren't all that exciting. It's nothing to write home about if all nvidia are offering is yet another round of speed bumped versions of their older cards.

I'm sure you're (all) right. I'm just surprised that the person doing the hoax can't be more imaginative. Given that nvida probably will release another round of high-end cards before DX10, then 7950gt/gtx/gs/ultra are as likely a name as anything else and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they held off using 32 pipes (and maybe even GDDR4) until the next generation so that the speed boost of a DX10 card in DX9 games was significant enough for people to upgrade (given that there will be only a couple of DX10 games on launch).

I do like the marketing ploy used in the second picture.

Look at the tech specs, the nvidia card has twice as many pixel pipelines, twice as much memory but manages a pathetic 187 point lead over the RV570.

Regardless of whether these cards are real or not they would have to do better then that. No doubt judging by the current 79GT prices these would come in slap bang where the significantly faster X1900XT currently stands. Making it a pointless purchase.

X1950 is R520+.

X1950XT-X: -
Manufacturing Process: 90nm
Core & Clock Frequency: R580+ @ 650MHz
Memory Clock Frequency: 1000MHz (2GHz DDR)
Pixel Shader Pipelines: 48
Memory Interface: 256-bit GDDR4
Memory Bandwidth: 64GB/s

Its actually R580

is R570 not the X1900GT?

X1900GT: -
Manufacturing Process: 90nm
Core & Clock Frequency: R580/R570 @ 575MHz
Memory Clock Frequency: 600MHz (1.2GHz DDR)
Pixel Shader Pipelines: 36
Memory Interface: 256-bit GDDR3
Memory Bandwidth: 38.4GB/s

Thats what i was thinking. A card barely faster than a X1900pro (should i assume this is a X1800GTO replacement? Becasue the slides show it will compete with the 7600GT. An as yet unreleased X1900 card that Nvida somehow got a hold of?) and yet much more costly due to the extra ram. Wow, that would be such a bad purchase.

To quote from Atari Jaguar advertising "Do The Math"

Card Z is worth 1
Card X is worth 1 x 1 = 1

Advantage Z has over X = 0

Therefore Z + X = D

D = Number of people who will read this and then sell anything remotely linked to Ati and then Purchase Anything linked to Nvidia.

Current Estimated Value of D according to Prof H.Beans = D to the power of O squared by H

Yeah but aren't they calling it R580+ for some reason? Maybe because it's GDDR4 compatible?

We know it's not "RV570" on the X1950s anyway, so does anyone know what "RV570" might be? I thought ATI dropped the V part with the X800 series.
