NYE - Tried any new drinks?

Had 'some' Belvedere vodka on NYE which was rather nice. Was also drinking something called a Newton's Law which is vodka, apple sourz and lemonade (club in Bath does it) - very nice. Turned out to be an awesome new years even though I don't remember large parts of it:o

I think ima get myself one of those. Whats the exact % of each bit?

A friend of mine made mulled ale.

I still feel sick just thinking about how utterly utterly vile it was.

Anyone here had Absenth? Ive heard some bad stuff about that, I wouldent touch it with a stick.

You mean ever had Absinthe or just on Hogmanay? I've drunk it a few times before although just in bars so none of the elaborate preparations and commercial mixtures (probably all versions available now) don't use wormwood as such but use wormwood extract which doesn't have the hallucinogenic effects that original preparations were supposed to.

I didn't think it anything special any time I've had it, the rituals for preparation make it seem more entertaining than most but also more hassle so I doubt I'd bother much to try them as it just comes across as a high strength shot - nothing more, nothing less now but kind of pricey because of the mystique.

the drink invention of the evening comprised of cider, vodka and black currant (3:2:1, ish) in a pint mug - it was pink and seemed to do the job

it was a shame the 'mr slushy' never turned up - i was looking forward to boozy squishies :D

Sounds like a half-hearted attempt at a cocktail I used to drink up in Hull:

A shot of pernod, a shot of gin, a shot of white rum, a shot of vodka.
Topped up to about half a pint with cider.
Filled to almost the top with orange juice.
A dash of blackcurrant to make it an awful pink colour.

Was shockingly nice!
