O2 downgrading packages *warning*

He joined before unless he's totally oblivious. :p

I'm sure they'll move everyone across to the new packages eventually.

Just got a call from O2 asking if i wanted to change package as im 'out of contract' - 'We might be able to offer you a better deal'. **** off. told him i was happy with what its on at the moment and im not looking to change. Told him if i changed my mind id let them know.

Done and dusted in 30 seconds - not going to fall for these shennanigans

Im still on the "O2 Home Broadband Premium" package, thats where its staying. My contract ran out for the second year on 06 December 2010, still havent had a call about it. Guess its just on a rolling monthly setup now.

Same. Only in this flat for another few months too so it's worked out remarkably well. Won't be signing up to o2 at the new place that's for sure.

Mum had O2 phone up today. She simply said that we're not interested in changing our contract and they should said any details in the post for Dad to look at.

I presume it was to try and get us to downgrade the package as we're only paying £7.50p/m for unlimited 24meg!

Fortunately Mum's wary of technology related spam calls (and it's all Dad's responsibility not hers) especially as "Sam from Microsoft" phoned yesterday .

Interesting thread. I have a mobile contract with O2 and was looking at going with them when I move in April.

May have to re-think that idea which is a shame as they give you a discount for being a mobile customer.

Good on you :) I'll have to advise my mum to ignore any O2 calls if this is the tactic they're using to downgrade customers usage limits.

They will use some buzz words - we can offer you a better deal blah blah - i didnt even give him a chance to talk about the packages. He also wanted to know if i was interested in changing phone provider - i said my dad sorts that out - 'and he's not around. Blatant lies - but ill keep an eye out on my bill for the next few months

A lot of people who have joined or had the packages changed are reporting lots of problems with Streaming video and online games being unwatchable or unplayable.

One little trick they do is tell you that there is a cooling off period however this does not mean that you will be put back on the original legacy package but will be given the option to leave.

Yep, there's lots of complaints on that fact over on the official O2 forums. As someone said, eventually they'll move everyone whether they've agreed to new terms or not. If/when that happens I'll just get her to move over to Be, sure it's a little more expensive but at least they're to remain truly unlimited for the foreseeable future.

I'm moving soon and was gonna take my o2 net but due to needing a line at my new property o2 cant provide the new install & BT want to charge £130 for the new line.

I've decided to go to sky instead for the lot as they will give me line rental & BB for £18 with an install cost of £30. Its a shame they are messing all the packages up as I wouldve kept with o2.

current speed is 15mb but I'm already being shape as my upload speed is naff! so an 8mb drop in speed at my new house may be bad but atleast I wont have this.

I'm gonna keep on O2 for as-long as I can, but when they force the downgrade I'll jump ship to Be. Funny that as I was with Be before switching to O2 because they were cheaper for exactly the same package!

Though maybe by then my road will have either been done for Virgin cable or BT have rolled out VDSL to my road...

Lol i really want one of these 'sam from microsoft' calls, i want to hear what their reaction is when i ask them if they are aware that i am a qualified IT technican:D

I phoned O2 to change our line rental from Bt to them. They said if I did that then my broadband package would have to be moved to one of their new ones.

As I'm paying about £7.50odd for my 20mb speed, I don't really want to do that as the packages are far more expensive and capped.

Instead now looking to move just phone line rental to Sky, and retain O2 broadband...

Worse case I'll move over to Sky for phone and broadband...
