o2 interview on monday

What do you think?

sounds like a good idea apostolis...especially for the position you applying for, well all i can say is best of luck and keep us updated :) ohh btw when is your interview?

(still think its strange that there asking you to do a presentation as i dont think the recruiting process has changed. guess it just depends on the manager, sure you'll do great though )

It's this monday 10o'clock in the morning. Its only for 6 months (maternity cover?i think thats how it's called) but it is something to start. After all i am after some graduate schemes next year.. Aaron do you remember any difficult questions they asked you?

Basically i am asking all this because its gonna be my 2nd interview here in uk. I had my first with carphone warehouse and i thought it went good. But i didn't get the job. I think that was because i didnt have back then a bank account and they didnt get my passport(they did take a copy of it from all the others) telling me that if i took the job then they would help me get a bank account and then they would take my passport copy... So i am kinda nervous.. :D I don't want to mess it.

Hi there :)

Im currently a sales adviser in an o2 shop so can give you a bit of an insight.

The first piece of advice i can give is be confident. Obviously this accounts for any interview but it's especially important in a sales adviser role as you will have to speak to everyone and anyone if you get the job and if you hesitate during a sale it gives a bad image of yourself, the shop and the company. however ensure you dont come across as arrogant as no one likes that, just be confident in yourself and you'll do fine.

Also they will probably ask you a few questions about the business (for example they asked me in my interview why o2 was awarded the iphone contract from apple a year before the other competitors, the answer to which was something along the lines of "because of the way o2 looks after its customer's and the quality at which o2 provide its service")

However they did not ask me to do a presentation so i cant help you there really so i aplogise. But following on from before i suggest you just pick a subject your confident in as from the sounds of it, they are not particularly looking at the subject you choose (but obviously dont choose something that looks bad like drink or something) but rather the way in which you present yourself so try your best to stay calm, remain confident and try not to hesitate + use good language.

Hope this helps mate and if you have any further questions just let me know and ill be more than happy to help :D

Aaron.

P.S. let us know how you do :)

Golden, inside knowledge and all that! say no more!

I wouldn't bother with your phone I would play it cool, walk down to the shop pickup a crap phone and an Android or iPhone and present them both but sell them both, here's one that can help you take your work place and social sphere of influence out in the street with you (iPhone) and its companion a £2.50 Motorola // LG // Nokia that will purr in your girlfriends bag like a long lost kitten when shes receiving that all important call from you, to ask what time she'll have dinner ready and the ironing done!

Ok yes, its true, I'm crap at sales and obviously would fail this job, but that guys advice above is spot on I think! :D

.

well i got the job two years ago so that one before is the main one that stands out and that i remember, but really its all down to the manager i guess and his own personal style of interviewing. they'll sometimes ask you to do silly things such as demonstrating taking a battery out of a phone (with me it was a nokia 5800 and embarrisingly i couldnt get it off, knew how, just it wouldnt budge and the mangers recognised this so it didnt go against me in the interview hehe...luckily ;)).

But in all honesty if your up to date with technology or can think logically youll sail through it (even better if both lmao :)). A good example of this is when they ask you to demonstrate a certain program, app or setting on a phone and as most phones menu layout is similar nowadays all you have to do is follow the menu's till you find it. Otherwise they'll probably just ask you a few question's to try and evaluate you and try and figure out your work ethic. Its also good to bring up any ambitions you have as it shows you have drive to get the goals you want (which in their eye's equate's to sales) but again thats something that depends on the manager interviewing you so just be wary about it as obviously if they take you on they shall at least want to keep you for that 6 month's (and hopefully longer if you do well) so just be be careful about bringing that up and if you do, do it in such a way that it sounds like your committed to woking there for the duration. However im sure you shall do great :D hope that helps.

aaron thank you very much..can i ask you another thing? First step its phone interview. Then is the face to face interview. Is it the last step? Or there is also another one? ANd how long does it take to learn that you have passed?

Not a problem :) and again i beleive its down to managerial preferance (sorry i know that me saying that repeatadly is'nt much help), however with me i didnt have a phone interview as i got my job through hoanding out cv's (i take it you applied online apostolis?), i had two face to face interview's but as you had a phone one i beleive this next interview will be the final one for you assuming you get it *fingers crossed* hehe. You will be on probation for three months after in which time theyll ask you to do simulations on a online retail accademy but thats all and its pretty easy so you'll do fine :D and it took me about 2 weeks to find out as applied as soon as the opening became available :)

Y i did apply online. It was listed there since august (thats kinda odd). Basically i am asking because i am also thinking about the grad schemes and how much time will i have in order to go to assessments(thats an omg part back in greece we don't have things like this) and work together. Anyway ill start sending cvs for grad schemes also, the deadlines are till next month... But i hope to get the o2 job, to get a start. I love beeing around gadgets and technology ( i would apply to ocUK for a system builder or a sales job but they arent in Edinburgh :( ) so fingers crossed ill try to get it.

The phone interview guy was kind enough to give me also feedback on what did i do wrong. The only wrong think i did was that, when he was asking something ie. tell me one time when you exceeded a customer's expectations, what did you do and how did it feel like, i analysed it too much ( i told the whole story) and he told me try to avoid such thing. Well to be honest thats how i think, i forgot that here in uk you use the simple rule of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Anyway i hope i wont say more than i will be asked on monday.

Man if i was a manager, and i interviewed someone that never had an iphone, I would definetely ask her/him to open the battery case for me :D . I have done that with 100% success(with people that wanted to buy an iphone, because everybody else has one, even with ppl that HAVE an iphone!!!OMG). Nobody was able to open it and they tried and tried (Duh!!).

I had a face-to-face interview last week for a Guru position.

I got an email today asking for my references to be up to date and let them know when it is done - I don't know what to make of that?

Is that good news or standard? Surely 5 days after the face-to-face they wouldn't bother asking me about my references if I wasn't being considered seriously?

hi spinstorm, i have an interview coming up for a Guru position and was looking to know if you could pass on any tips? the things they asked etc.. any help would be much appreciated.. thanks :-)

Hi I just did this and my now I'm asked to do a face to Face interview tomorrow.. Any tips on what they ask you? I've been told that I have to do a 10 minute presentation on something I'm passionate about? Did you have to do this as well? How did it go? Thanks in advance.
