About 3 years ago we spent a considerable amount of money on having real oak flooring laid in our front room and hall. After years of dog scratching, cleaning it with all sorts of (unsuitable) kitchen cleaners, various wear etc its looking a bit tired.

Whats the best method of giving it a good refurb? I was thinking maybe some sort of electric hand polisher and some good wood polish?

Anyone got any experience or tips in the matter?

If its genuine wood then a commercial sander. Speak to HSS, Speedyhire, a tool hirer basically.
Its maybe worth seeing if you can find someone used to doing it though, I used to work in the trade and there were horror stories of people using a fortune worth of sanding pads etc and not making a terribly good job.

Basically one of these, looks like a hoover, does the opposite with the dust though.
