Hey guys

Just a quick question, who actually uses the auto travel? I bet the majority do as its such a big game, but are there any others like myself who dont use it.

I love nothing more than if i have to travel from one end of the map to the other than to set off in the morning after a good night sleep in the inn. Riding on horseback through the country during sunrise is such a fantastic site in this game, then on the return journey, or even on the way if it is such a long journey and it gets dark, looking for a cave or fort to clear out to spend the night. Then to resume the journey in the morning, riding again through the sunrise.

As naff as it sounds, if your not as into the game, its actually very rewarding. With a game as immersive as this i wanted to make the absolute most of it, and by roleplaying properly like this it really adds that extra element to the game that makes it that much more special.

Seriously, if you do use auto travel everywhere you go, try not to from now on. You encounter so much more, and i woulda thought using auto travel you miss so much more of the game. Why have such a vast land if you dont use it

Yeah i agree besides i have no choice at the moment as i dont know how to auto travel :p

But like you said when i have had to travel between towns i have always come across stuff on the way

THIS GAME ROCKS!!!

I used auto travel when I played it for a bit as I wanted to do as much as I could in the 2 days I had it. When I fully get hold of it I probably wont.

Funny you should mention this. Normally in RPG's I love to take my time to travel to destinations but I have to admit I have been using auto travel to get to places quick.

However today I've been wandering around, and am loving it. Found so many shrines/dungeons/camps as well as the fabled unicorn :) This has been my best day with the game so far, made 1k too!

i only found out about auto travel this morning :).....the thing is your horse doesnt get taken with you :/

My horse does. Every time I quick-travel somewhere he's either with me or in the stables outside the city.

Maybe try getting on him before quick-traveling the first few times?

Personally, I tend to vary. It's great fun just to ride from point to point in the game sometimes, and it makes the game flow a bit better than jumping from point-to-point and the time of day completely changing. Plus you find new areas and I always end up stopping every few steps to grab the nearest random plant/fungus I see for mixing. But sometimes, I just can't be bothered, especially when a random side-quest requires me to go to the other side of the map for something fairly unimportant, so I'll jump straight there.

Nah, cant be doing with messing around riding to places...

Click, load, shabam.. im there.. job done..

Still, its the way i like to play and its a fantastic game. Completed the Arena stuff today :D.. and started enchanting some stuff with some grand soul gems i found.. +10 strength! so i can carry 340 stuff..

I use fast travel almost exclusively, mainly because I can't be bothered with the random encounters or the sheer amount of time it takes to get anywhere on my admittedly slow bog-standard horse.

I used it at first and to be honest I wish that I hadn't. I used to love the feeling of coming over the brow of a hill and seeing the gates to a city in which I'd never been.

Now it's just press B, move map cursor, click A and I'm there :( Kinda spolied some of the excitement of the game for me.

Damn my laziness.

Yes your horse does get taken with you but i think you may have to own it (ie you bought it not stole it).

[EDIT] Unless your sitting on it when you initate auto travel.

I only use auto travel if im already in a town and im travelling to another town since im in the thieves guild theres a lot of hopping around required.

I use it if I'm on a quest and need to bounce between a couple of places fairly quickly. If I'm just travelling from place to place I generally use the horse, I love finding all the dungeons/mines/forts/ruins etc. My only problem is after a while I forget which ones I've been to before, and which I've just found to go back to later :o I know I can go back and there'll be more stuff there, but it can still be a pain at times. I need to get a notebook for the game.
