OC'd to 3.2 Vista reading 3.6?

Guys

any ideas on this, ive oc'd to 3.2ghz 8x400 fsb, it shows in bios as
3.2 but vista is reading it as 3.6, is this normal?

What exactly in Vista is displaying the CPU speed as 3.6.

Are you sure you've set it at 400x8 as 400x9 would give you 3.6

yeah, definetly a multi of 8, when you right click on computer is displays as 3.6

as i say it does display as 3.2 in bios and ive checked twice on the multiplier (8x400 1.3025 vcore). very strange

Are there any mobo tools that adjust the multiplier or FSB for best results? Could have it at 8x in the bios, yet it automatically changes to 9x out of it.

everest is reading it also at 8x

edit, i went back to the 3.0 i was at previously and windows recognised it at 3.0
maybe has something to do with sp1 rc im running?

i uninstalled the uguru prog that comes with the board to see if that made any difference but it didnt

yeah, cpu-z shows 8x

Windows is reading the default multiplier of your CPU which is 9.
It is a common problem that windows misreports true CPU speed if you run the multi at anything other than default.

Other apps get it wrong as well, Orthos for example.

Its Intel fault, must be the way it works as Windows does see an AMD's change in Multi but only at Startup.

Some guy had a thread the same yesterday, just use CPU-Z.

yup use CPUz to read the CPU speed... a lot of prog's have issues once you start running high FSB or non default multi's.. coretemp for instance reports my clockspeed @ 4.2ghz as 7.7 or something silly

same thing happened when my q66 was in my p5b in vista 64, now its in my maximus formula its a.ok

has loads of info on my setup, have posts in the Q6600 overclocking thread as well showing volts.. etc.. for clocks from 3.744 up..

yes is the GeIL 6400 ULL latency... although to be fair it runs lose at those sorts of clocks needs some better stuff
