Hi hope someone can help
Have the above asus motehrboard and RAM

when i install the ram it boots but goes to a boot loader and tries to boot to a CD

I cant get into the bios to change settings for RAM
bios version is 0608

any ideas or help welcome
thanks

erm...do you mean you need to make it boot off the hard drive? Cos thats a simple case of changing the boot sequence in the bios...other than that it may look like I've missed the point altogether!

Have you tried it with a single stick?

It sounds like the memory is faulty and the motherboard is trying to recover the BIOS from a CD. I had the same problem with my Gigabyte P35-DS3P with some OcUK PC8500 I recieved at the w-end. It would boot ok with a single stick, but it kept trying to recover the BIOS with two sticks inserted.

Needless to say I RMA'ed the memory this morning. It's a pity because I currently have a pair of OcUK PC8500 that have been running perfectly for a couple of months.

That sound aboot right, but i have plugged the ocuk ram in the pc at work and it booted fine but only at pc4200 speed as thats all the pc at work supports, not tried a single stick or differant slots will try that, and if not RMA it

The single stick booted ok at PC6400 speeds in my system, but wouldn't run below 5-7-7-25 at the advertised PC8500 speeds, no matter what i set the voltage to. It also wouldn't run below 5-5-5-15 at PC6400, which would suggest that it didn't have a hope of running those timings at PC8500.

If you can get it to boot with a single stick, set the advertised settings of 1066mhz (PC8500) and 5-5-5-15 in BIOS with the memory voltage (vdimm) at 2.1 or 2.2v. If it then refuses to boot with both sticks at those settings then they'll have to be RMA'ed.
