Ocuk and the VAT increase!

hey all!

quick question, will ocuk but putting the vat up to 20% or are they holding off for a few months after it comes into effect?
im asking this as im going to be buliding after the new year

didnt know if they were going to be nice to us all in the new year, so p***ed the the vats going up especially as im buying when its goin up!

i doubt they'll hold off, but they might do a small sale or something just before the rise. I seem to recall they did something similar last year

Prices will normalise after, stuff will fall into nice £xx.99 slots. Did you notice the 2.5% drop in your wallet?

You still have a few months as it won't come into effect until jan, also don't forget companies have to pay VAT also, so yeh i can't see any company taking the hit, they may do offers but it will be there for everything.

Retailers have no choice about charging the increased VAT, it's the law!

The only way they could keep prices the same is to reduce their pre VAT prices and reduce their profit margin.

It's a shame that Sandybridge is likely to come in Q1 2011 not Q4 2010, as I'm holding off my build until then - and obviously the extra 2.5% will kick in.

I think when the VAT was reduced Overclockers done it a few days earlier.

Unless you are buying a whole system, a 2.1% increase isn't going to be that noticeable.

Exactly. It will have about as much impact as the vat cut did. Bugger all!!
