HI there,

Was curious if someone from OCuK could pick up this thread but I have seen many Windows OEM versions now being offered with the step up to Vista voucher where dependant on what version of windows you have bought you get a Vista Version on release. You pay like £8 to Microsoft to send you it out! All in all a good policy as you are literally saving a good bundle by doing this.

Windows MCE gives you Windows Vista Premium (what most want)
Windows XP Pro gives you Windows Vista Business

I was really wondering as to whether OCuk will be selling these versions of windows that are offering this?

Cheers,

RodgA

Thats actually fairly interesting with so many OEM versions offering the upgrade floating about the net

Quick question is the copy of Vista going to be a upgrade version or is it going to be a full version which will be bootable? Pain in the backside if it's an upgrade as a fresh install will take forever.

if its an upgrade like XPs one was, you can install from scratch - you just need to enter your old windows cd to proove you are upgrading

Seems going down this route, you will be unable to get the ultimate edition which has all the bells wand whistles....But may work out cheaper than buying it out right!

hmm yea has anyone gotten any further with this, noticed you can grab windows MCE 05 for £70 and get Vista Premium free? i am convinced that premium will be more expensive than this to buy even as OEM when it is released.

what do you guys reck?

If its more than that then im not buying it

£150? You have to be joking, that's way too little. Most shops sell XP Pro for ~£100 and home for ~£50. Some even try to get away with selling XP Pro for £150+. I'm sure Vista will be more, unless Microsoft realise the fact that if they make it cheaper then fewer people will download and illegal copy.
