Which canon cameras would you like to see OcUK stock at very competitive prices. Please state your reasons behind this so I can use the information to make an informed decision on the range.

Please confine your comments to specific models. There is no need to quote prices - we all know how to use the Internet.

Pick say 3 or 4 bestsellers from each camera type. I was thinking IXUS 850IS, G7, A430 and maybe the 30D. What do you think?

Personally, I'd certainly put their entry level DSLR in (now the 400D). A few lenses would be good too. It's an upgrade from a point and shoot or a prosumer, but most people wouldn't want to go straight to something like a 30D. That would to too expensive if you didn't know you were going to be getting into it properly.

Don't know much about the rest of the canon range, so I won't comment on that.

The Fuji F30 / F31 is currently a Compact Point & Shoot class leader

Class leading high ISO performance; superb results up to ISO 400, useable at ISO800
Very long battery life.
Very low shutter lag.
Fast and reliable focus.
Compact size

Good suggestion, but I want to focus on Canon for now.

Looking at this also, what accesories and lenses would you like to see ?

Canon Speedlite 430EX flashgun (maybe the 580EX as well but not sure there would be enough demand)
Rechargable AA batteries
OP/Tech Pro Strap
3rd party batteries (official Canon ones are stupidly priced)
Sandisk CF cards (maybe SD as well?)
A small selection of Lowepro bags (Lowepro Mini Trekkor AW is a must imho)
Sensor cleaning kit (rocket blower / sensor swaps / pec pads / eclipse solution)
Maybe some filters as well?

Canon Digital IXUS i7 zoom

- Ultra compact
- 7MP
- 2.4x zoom
- DIGIC III with Noise Reduction Technology and Face Detection
- Choice of 4 colours

What ^^Gord^^ said :p

Maybe shutter release cables would be good too.

With lenses, there are soooo many, depends how far you want to go really.

Thought of two more....

Flash Diffuser (Stofen?)
Small selection of tripods (including Velbon Ultra Luxi F)

I guess there's a short-list of lenses that are commonly recommended here and on other forums which offer good bang for buck and are likely to be popular. I'm thinking of things like:

Canon:
10-22
50 mm f/1.8
17-85 IS USM
70-300 IS USM
70-200 (f/4 or f/2.8, depending on depth of OCUKs desired range and how pricey you wish to go)
17-40 L
17-55 f/2.8
Possibly the 100mm macro?

Sigma:
10-20
17-70 DC Macro
18-50 f/2.8
70-300 APO DG

Possibly also the 50-500 and 70-200 f/2.8 HSM

I'm sure there are a few other favourites, but these cover both budget, mid-range and high end across the zoom range.

As for accessories, I'd also vouch for Optech straps, Sandisk cards, Rocket blowers and the 430EX Speedlight. I think it's hard to compete against the big auction site for filters etc. In terms of cameras, I think there's a place for both the 400D and the 30D (or whatever it gets replaced by, at some point). Bags would also be nice, but there's such a huge range and it's very much a personal choice thing I'm not sure how profitable it'd be to keep stocks.

Choices around dSLRs are so personal and use dependant it's difficult to determine what to stock and not stock to adequately cover demand........however, the suggestions in the thread do seem to give a reasonable startpoint.

i think it would be good to see the 400d and the 30d, both for people that are just getting their first dslr and for those wanting to upgrade from the base model. thinks that would cover both angles, anything more than that would probably be a bit specialist.

in terms of lenses again i would think that depends on how far you want to go.

i think it would be good to have a selection from most of the manufacturers but again depends on how specialist your wanting to go. some of the lenses already posted would be a good starting point though.

with regards to accessories things like the optech straps, bags, rocket blowers, lens cloths, filters maybe. what about tripods and heads?

I agree with the IXUS 850 IS, thats my p&s of choice and after lots of research its the best for its size (the 900 didnt have IS and the lens doesnt go as wide, 35mm as opposed to 28mm).
