***OcUK FIRST - OCZ Vertex 3 Available to Pre-Order!***

What speed is it if purchase 2 x 120GB vertex 3 SSD on sata II 3Gbps because my board not support sata III 6Gbps unless if there is any good controller card support sata III 6Gbps ?

Anyone planning on putting one of these in a new Macbook Pro? I am. I'm just a little scared of ordering it before seeing a few success stories...

Firmware updates look like pain without Windows.

Edit: actually, it's not all that hard.

I have a 13" 2011 MacBook Pro and just installed a MaxConnect optical drive replacement. Only the HD bay has a SATA III connection, so my spinning HD has been put in there. This means I can stick my on-order Vertex 3 into the HD bay.

Can anyone from OcUK give us a reason for the delay? I'm shocked by the lack of communication with regards to the delays, no e-mail, no forum update, nothing.

The only reason I ordered a Vertex 3 from here was because the ETA was a lot sooner than other places and I believed the spiel about other stores finding it hard to get stock.

I really do understand how these things get delayed but I feel that OcUK fooled customers by being far too optimistic with the ETA, they must have known about a delay to the 28th before today but wanted more pre-orders to come in.

Hell, I've bought n paid for an entire system that's being held up by this delay. I'm guessing OC are only going by the info they are getting from OCZ/delivery company but a wee bit more communication from them would be nice.

Hi there

OCZ apologise for the delays and informed me yesterday evening they have now started shipping and we should be taking delivery early next week.

In regards to our ETA's were simply list the ETA the manufacturer gives us and they have delayed it twice now.

 for real?

Close; some 'real world' copy tests amongst the reviews I've read included copying from another faster (revo x2 - which is like 4 SSDs in RAID0) drive yielded ~381MB transfer rates to the Vertex 3 for nearly 4GB of data, so it took about 10 secs to write.

The good news is that that was with about 800 .mp3 files, which aren't (hardly) compressible. Some SSDs compress on the fly which results in writing less actual data and thus potentially faster speeds to report than they'd be able to attain or sustain with data they can't compress.

The Asus P7H57 board has this:

Marvell® SATA 6Gb/s controller:
- 2 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports (gray)

I think a pre order is in order.....so to speak....
