Are the OcUK Geforce Cards any good in comparison to say BFG or Leadtek? Im thinking of upgrading from an X600, but want a good card for the money (about £150-180).

Cheers

Welcome to the forums. :)

They should be fine and just as good as any other brand as they are all based on the same referance design, i forget who makes the OcUK cards now though, but as said should be fine.

If you want a decent ATI card then I recommend the PowerColor X1950 Pro 512Mb. It's a little over your budget, about £187 (correct me if im wrong). I say it's well worth it because I got mine about a week ago. Great card.

Im not overly worried wether its an nvidia or ATI as I have owned both in the past and have all performed well. So really Im just trying to get the best card for my money.

For a few quid more the X1950 Pro is better. The OcUK GeForce 7950 GT 512MB is clocked at: 550 core and 1400 mem. The X1950 Pro is clocked at: 600 core and 1400 mem. The extra 50Mhz on the core wont make much difference but when overcloking the X1950 Pro you are much more lightly to reach higher speeds because of the massive cooler.

Yes the 7950GT out performs the X1950 Pro from stock but between the OcUk 7950GT and the X1950 Pro, you will be able to reach higer clocks with the X1950. It really comes down to whether your going to be overclocking. Someone with the OcUk 7950GT might be able to tell you what oc'ing potenital it has but I can only speak for the X1950.

ya but the 7950GT is so far ahead, you would have to massively oc to even get close! in that link, its like 20%+ ahead. to achieve 20% increase in performance i would think 25%+ oc would be needed - and thats just to draw level!

also, bear in mind that each 1mhz overclocked on the nvidia is likely to equal more performance increase than each mhz overclocked on the ati also...

Indeed the 7950gt performs similarly to a x1900xt and 7900gto at stock so it will be quite far ahead of the pro. Are the x1900xt 256's still available? That would be the only decent ati equivelent in that price range.
