OcUK on ebay?

I was recently selling my old X850 XT PE (that I bought off OcUK) on ebay when surprisingly a buyer called overclockers-shop bought the card. I looked at the address and details of this ebay user and funnily enough they were the exact same details as OcUK; same address, etc.

After waiting a week I've received negative feedback along with many other users as it was a scam and now I have to go through the processes of getting it removed.

The user overclockers-shop is currently on -4 feedback and I don't know how many other people have been scammed by this user... I was just wondering if it is anything to do with OcUK (which I doubt now) and also, does it happen often that people would pretend to be OcUK on eBay?!

omg that is shocking. Bad enough that we have scammers anyway, but people trying to ruin the reputation of respectable companies

I'm glad I don't use ebay, I really don't think I could cope with it.

I hate having to use it, the whole process is long winded compared to buying from e.g. this website. However sometimes I wanna sell stuff there, and you can occasionally find yourself an absolute bargain. I found an old Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Ex for £40 when it'd just been released. The guy who I got it from clearly let too many of the cards out at once, and thus found he wasn't selling them all ;)

Next time block people who have less than 0 feedback.

I do block users with less than 0 feedback but at the time "overclockers-shop" had 0 feedback.. hmm.. maybe I should block people with 0 feedback too? I don't know if you can or not but it's the second time this has happened to me from users with 0 feedback and it's extremely annoying.

You could cancel the bid and have a warning stating users with 0 feedback must contact you first.

Sounds like it's someone who has an axe to grind and is trying to take a swipe at the shop. Thanks for the information.

One of my clients had a very similar problem with an ex employee trading on ebay as them.

Poeple will do anything for a bit of cash these days :(

Never had any problems myself, got scammed once through my own stupidity, since then had over 200 succesful transaction, ebay is only dangerous to people who dont know how to use it properly

Pathetic. Why impersonate something/someone else. I never use ebay anyway. Thank god. Well, i lie, i used it once. To try and sell a BB gun, but it got taken off. I didnt read the rules. lol.

It may be somebody with a grudge, but it's hubris to assume that all things overclocking, or all overclocking shops are OcUK related.

If you are involved in a transaction on ebay I'm sure there is a way to get their registered ebay contact details (ok, so they've prob faked). Might shed some light on their identity if you passed the info onto the relevant admins on here?

It would also contravene ebays policies:
