As this Season comes to an end, I would like to make an announcement.

Raymond and I have decided to retire from the Judging Panel. Rich Day will remain and will help to select the new Judging Panel. My suggestion is to give anyone in the top ten of the competition first refusal (as they obviously know what goes into taking a great photo).

Raymond is leaving as he doesn't have the time these days with the pressure of his exams.

He hasn't ruled out a return to the judging seat at some point in the future, but for now he would rather dedicate his energy to passing his exams. Please join with me in wishing him all the best. He is probably the longest running judge. He judged me when I used to enter and was around when Puz was a judge! (Remember the good old days?).

I have decided to retire too as I don't have as much time as I used to. The big Canadian adventure is taking over! It has been a great experience and I have learnt a lot. I know from being a judge and watching all the entries coming in, all the familar names and watching peoples progress, that you have to be in it to win it.

The people who consistently entered a photograph are the ones in the top ten of the scoreboard. I also know how difficult it is to do that. Sometimes you get a bad month and none of your photographs work. So I would like to thank the people who are dedicated enough to enter every round.

I want to thank the other judges (Raymond and Rich) for their efforts in getting me the results 'in my specified format!'. This has really helped get the results out much quicker than would otherwise be possible. I might return one day as a judge, but I just want a break for the time being.

Thanks for having me. In case I don't see ya, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night.

Raymond had this to say:-

Well, what can I say?

I’ve been judging when Puz was judging too. It truly has been a awesome ride with you guys, I have seen many people improve round upon round which has given me great pleasure to see they are truly utilising their talent to letting the rest of us enjoy the fruit of their vision.

I guess you can probably guess from what you've read so far, this round is the last round I am going to be a judge on the competition. With the last 6 months of Uni left on my LPC I need to concentrate on it. Add to that a new judge/judges would hopefully give some new blood to the judging panel some kick I hope, and I got myself a new Camera, so hopefully I can start entering myself too. Been away too long and will join amongst you mortals at the mercy of the OCUK judging panels

Good luck to the new judges, whoever you might be. :)

Thanks for everything guys :)

I cant say I didnt guess what was coming when I saw you were going to make an "announcement" though :(

I hope the new judges are as good as the last!

Had a feeling this might the big announcement but well done to you both for doing a difficult job and judging the pictures, we all appreciate the time, effort you have put in to judging the rounds.

Here is a behind the scenes document on how the judging process works. It is intended for those of you who wish to become a new judge. It is a little out of date, but perhaps your first task would be to update it for newcomers. If the new judge(s) need any help in getting set up, let me know. I will be posting example Excel docs shortly with the correct field formulaes etc.

Congrats on a hugely successful season. You guys have really done a great job at keeping everything going here. The new judges have some big shoes to fill :D

Congrats all guys, thanks to the judges. I'll make sure that myself and my new camera will enter EVERY round this season :D

Well they filled mine, they just have to get bigger ;)

I'd also like to thank Raymond and TerraS for all their hard work as judges. We've had a cracking season this year, with some truly stunning shots entered. I hope they'll be coming back with entries for all the new themes we'll have this year! Good luck with your remaining 6 months at Uni Raymond, and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Canada TerraS.

Finally, good luck to those who are aspiring to be the next judges :)

shame you guys are knocking it on the head, be nice to see you enter instead!

Who wants to stick their head over the top of the trench then???

I'd like to offer up my thanks to both TerraS and Raymond for all their efforts in judging the competition and helping me get my own judging hat firmly in pace. You've done a great job guys and you will both be missed.

So... we're looking for two people to fill some ample shoes! We would be especially interested to hear from the following people:

dod
cyKey
Gregeff
ronny
Spit
ranarama
Vegetarian
KIMMETT
matty
Phoenix_Cosmos

as you have all scored highly over the last competition season. Don't worry if you're not in this list, you are more than welcome to put your name forward.

If any of you fancy stepping up then please email me or post your contact details here and one of us judges will be in touch.

I thank the judges again for their efforts. It has been a long road for them and they have dedicated a lot of time and effort but of course real life matters always take precedence!

I wish Raymond Lin and TerraS all the best for the future! Thanks for your effort and dedication!

I look forward to the announcement of the succeeding judges :)

Just to say thanks to the judges for their consistent effort and the dedication they have shown to this competition. Cheers!

So I was right then? :p

Thanks to all the judges for their hard work, and I appreciate that RL must come first.

Good luck to the new judges. :)

Raymond and Terras have done a great job, i hope they enter the competition now though!

I wont be offering myself up for a judges position, i enjoy the challenge to much and dont have that much hard technical knowledge to be able to mark others.

The judges this year have done a great job and brought the competition into a new league. The suspense, the charts, the scoring all have been great this year. Having been a judge I know how hard it is especially when you're itching at the bit to take some photos and enter yourself. TerraS should pass his excel skills over to the next bunch. But we do need at least 3 judges and hopefully we'll get them. It's not a thankless job and you can have fun, really ! So start putting your names forward !
