OcUK Photo Comp - Season Five : Round Three - "Work" DISCUSSION

Heh, I was a lumberjack few years ago, best job I ever had.

Nice shots guys :) I have no ideas so far...

Just got mine in. It's a draft really, and I'll call it my placeholder for now.

It relates to stress in the workplace, and to some people as work can be very stressfull, I wanted to try to convey that feeling.

curse you danza *screws up idea and throws it in the bin* :p

(not quite my idea but close enough to put me off it!)

Danza, I really liked your entry before you applied the selective colouring (you did post a straight b&w version before and I'm not just going mad, am I??). I think it was the strongest one so far.

The b&w lent a feeling of desperation to the shot, the selective colouring doesn't serve any purpose and seems to have been done just for the hell of it.

Obviously this is all imho ...

It's only a placeholder! ;)

Selective colouring, I don't know what you're on about :D

I'll be re-shooting the shot, as I want the subject to be nearer the center of the illumination. I'd also like greater dof, but that could prove very difficult as I can hardly get a focus lock on myself if I'm not in the shot!

I did try some shots with a bit of motion in, but they were too hit and miss on the first run at least.

I wish the light had been better for mine, the reflective strips on the dummies jackets spoil the shot with a flash.

In a way, I admin a Citrix server network. I just happen to be working on a chemical company site at the moment :)

Not that I'm a judge anymore, but some of you need to check the border rule :)

* Photos may have an optional border. If used, this must be a single colour and a reasonable size.

I have an early ish entry in. Gone for something a bit different. Its taken about the last week!

OK I changed mine, I liked the subject but not the picture. I'm happier with this current one.

I might still change it though.

There is loads of building work happening in my town center, so thought it would be a good excuse to get some photography done when I handed my coursework in.

I may still change my entry though.

don't think am going to play anymore, fed up with ranking near the bottom. Clearly I suck.

That is exactly the attitude I had when I entered the first year...and I am still entering!

So relax, go out, take some photos and enjoy yourself!

Thats exactly how I used to feel when I started. But if there is one single thing thats helped me progress as a photographer its this competition.
