Being that the entries are now in (and this was my first entry), anyone care to give me a bit of feedback?

Cheers :)

* The Judges may not discuss or submit their interpretation of the theme until the competition winner has been announced.
* The Judges will not reveal individual scores, however some judges may provide a critique after the competition has ended.

So once the winner has been announced I'll be happy to do critique. Even though I forgot to do it last time when I promised I would. Sorry.

Ack - misread it - are the populous as a whole allowed to critique?

Absolutely. In days gone by entrants used to regularly give their mini critique of the entries. If you fancy doing one just go ahead :)

Ok, i'll get the ball rolling with a mini critique, well more of an I like type thread...

My favourite pic is my entry.

EDIT; Raymond has the best pic....

Sorry, cant resist stupid comments sometimes.

Anyway, the picture that I think fits the theme best and I also really like is the one taken by matty. I think its a great shot and I love the effect used! Also I think the poses are great! Only slight problem I have with it is I'd of liked to see more facial expression, in each shot the model (matty?) seems to be kinda hiding their face from the camera.

Another picture that stands out for me is AdWright's underground train shot. It's just a great picture. Maybe it could have been made more relevant to the theme if the people were wearing business suites or something.... Also well done for handholding at 1/5 s, not an easy task!!!

I love the feel of Fstop11's shot.. amazing picture...
I would love to see the development of it from shutter click to final posting...

Hey, thanks a lot! I did want to get back to Baker St. station and re-take this when it was a bit busier, but unfortunately my permit only allows me to shoot during off-peak periods

er, i think

ef (f) tee (t) dubya (w) = F T W = for the win

surely F T W was easier to say :p

/edit/ why have they banned the TLA - F T W

Ah I C :p Ta, CYA.

P.S I agree, I think it's hit the theme spot-on.

I wanted to get a picture of ants carrying stuff back to their nest (or what ever their home is called). I got all excited because I was taking some students to Paignton zoo the day before the comp ended so was sure I'd get my shot (they have one of those displays where the ants walk back and forth along a long stick to get from the nest to the food).

I literally ran to the amazon type area, found where the ants were and what did i find? I found a stick, with no ants. All the food was at the other end. I could see the ants through the dirty glass in their nest, but would they come out to get the food, of course not! Not even when i moved loads of the food to the opening of the nest.... stupid ants.

There is a place we goto near the norfolk coast, they have butterflies and birds of prey there. In the butterfly bit, there is a section with a large ant nest in the centre and ropes leading out to the corners of the room with their food, leaves etc Its great to watch them go back and forth and you can get right up close to them. Some of them are pretty menacing!

Now you have mentioned your idea, I may try and go back this summer and see what I get. Will have to be flash photography though cos it is pretty dark in the area.
