No worries! I agree with ichabod, the thought was there, but a zoom and different crop would probably have brought it right on theme, so keep it up! I using this competition as an opportunity to learn, and it's a great exercise in making you really think about composition, lighting, DoF etc...!

My first impressions of it were that it was a very cluttered composition. As you say, a lot of the elements have water in them (in some format), but for me it would have been better if you'd picked out a single one (in as much isolation as you could manage) and done a shot of that. The icicles hanging off the railing are just begging for a nice abstract shot with some punchy B&W and a slight vignette to bring the focus into the centre.

With the fast shutter of this shot, it actually took me a minute to realise we were seeing a splash - we don't see the impact, so all we have to go on is the water in the air, which could equally be rain or whipped-up snow.

Hope that's useful to you. As above, though ... feel free to disagree with us. An opinion is an opinion. I sometimes disagree with the other judges comments and I'm sure they sometimes disagree with mine

I might have chosen to move over a few meters (if that was an option).

Wasn't an option. Minging rottern tree just to the right and no other gaps big enough to get the show without wading out

Thanks for the comments As with most months....I find I was struggling a bit for interesting ideas while trying to avoid the water drop shots and this was the best I had, not interesting enough it would seem lol
