OCuk Photography Meet - April?

the weather up here shouldn't be too bad. from memory at my mates wedding in peebles (wee bit south of edinburgh) it was around 17 degrees or so.

Thinking of things to do and see there would be.....

princess street / gardens / scott monument / national gallery / castle / royal mile / arthurs seat (pano of the city) / dynamic earth / museum of scotland / parliament building (440million of erm building!) or just check out any photos that DJ_Switch has taken for ideas :p

you'd best stay home then :D :p

Indeed. I have no problems travelling but...

Glasgow for me, is a bit far, same for Edinburgh.
And from what I've heard/can gather, Liverpool and Newcastle, as interesting as they may be, are dumps with people to match, sod carrying around over 2 grands worth of gear, being over 300+ miles from home, should anything happen.

I'd consider Birmingham or Manchester though :)

stereotyping isn't good jake. ;) Like any place if you go to a dodgy place you'll end up in trouble but stick to the main areas and you'll be fine. if you are concerned though you can invite your mum to hold your hand if you wish :D

It's no different to people not wanting to come to London for fear of being stabbed up, yet I go there all the time and love the place!

If I had more money I'd fly up to Glasgow or Edinburgh, but right now thats not an option, and might not be for a while. Along with Newcastle and Liverpool not appealing to me in the slightest, for that reason, I'm out.

And I'm not inviting my Mum, she's embarrassing :p

cant really argue with the money side of things. I know it wasn't exactly cheap when i came down to the first meet but found it very worthwhile. Just remembered I'm doing a sponsored walk on the 23rd of April so that rules out that weekend for me now. Oh by the way Jake when were you one of the 'dragons' on Dragons Den?.......for that reason , I'm out :p

Same actually for 1st weekend in April and 3rd weekend in May, in fact that first May weekend gives more cheap flight options. It's probably their lowest typical fare.

April is a definite no no for me. Really jammed packed with work and holiday that month.

Money is not so much an issue as I'll make a mini holiday out of it, but just no time free in April.

Edinburgh is nice, but it's probably a bit far for most. Liverpool / Newcastle would probably be good options in terms of location and trains.

I'd tentatively say I'm interested, but I really can't tell until closer to the date.

Never been to one of these but I live a bus ride away from Newcastle and there's plenty of drunks to photograph. Second half of May may not be ideal time for those students amongst us as that's when most Uni deadlines are.

Edinburgh is only 4hrs from London via train...

Depending on dates, Id be up for this as I enjoyed the last one...

Hmmm... I never considered the train. Lets see:

It takes 11 hours to get there. 7 to get back and costs £128.00

Easyjet is £60 or thereabouts from Gatwick, Luton or Stanstead.

I think we'll fly.

But with Sleasyjet, the price goes up every time you look at it. Can we please agree a date?

Lets put a stake in the ground. Who is up for Edinburgh on 14/15 May?

Andrew

That weekend's fine for me at present and I would probably stay an extra night (or two) to make it worthwhile. When would the main shooting day be - Saturday or Sunday?

To the paranoid - if you're flying on the Friday, it would be Friday 13th.
