With that argument I could say I only run at 800x600, and thus images should be less than 800px wide.
Should people respect that? Not really, at some point you have to adapt and move on.
I posted some high resolution images that had been released for the upcoming game Company of Heroes 2, in a thread titled that. I don't want to have to resize nice 1920 x 1080 images to 1024 which just wouldn't do the screenshots justice.

Having to turn images off just to read a forum seems crazy to meWell if you're connected by 2G then even smaller images are a pain, in which case my suggestion is the same - turn images off. Simple.
