OCUK RWYB Drag Meet 2 - Saturday March 25th - Santa Pod Raceway

Race my diesel

Will do. Whats it running power wise? Yours is about 180KG heavier than my Corolla so I guess it would need about 220HP for it to be even-ish. Though diseasals do have torque which my car has none of.

Not a clue on approximate figures but I'd estimate around 210-215. Slipping clutch high in revs and I'm sure the slave cylinder is playing up too lol. Only when I shift really quick. So may get them changed before I head to Pod.

Be a good comparison though.

Ill practice my launches. :p

3000~RPM and flip the pedals with TC off works alright on the road. Not sure about on the strip.

I tried an aggressive launch from 5K with TC off and the clutch didnt bite hard enough so I think thats overdoing it slightly. :p

Not sure on these tyres either cos they arent performance oritented. (Michelin Energy Saver's of some description)

Torque isn't king on the drag strip unless you have the traction

Very true. When I first took car to Pod front tyres were something daft like 38psi. Our second outing I had them at 34ish which sort of improved times but still very much a lot of wheel spin. So dropped them down to 25psi and it improved the time again by .4. Tyres are crap though.

The scoob will dround out any other noise anyway. :)

Actually pretty much no other car can dround out the sound of an M3 CSL full chat heading towards you, its a unique sound and one of the best plus very loud. However heading away from you, then yes Scoob all the way, but CSL air boxes on M3's really are loud when driving towards you and a sound that stands out, but as Pod is about driving away you from, yes Scoob wins hahaha.

Yeah i plan on. :)

Best get her ready. New aux belt, oil and filter service, re-fit rear heat shield, fit new backbox (not req'd but needed for smiles!), and clear out all the boot clutter. :p

Maybe fiddle with the ECU and plug the magic switch in...

Quick question regarding pods new surface. Is it going to be proper concrete now instead of the tarmac?

Does that make it better for times or worse? As I imagine 0-60ft times may increase due to less grip or am I wrong?

Have been told it will actually be grippier.

Concrete is easier to launch road cars on with road tyres. So if it is concrete the RWD road car crowd will love it, far less of the dreaded hop.

Yeah I was looking at some posts last night. It will be concrete but with a rubber layer or something like that ontop for grip. Will have to see on the day I guess
