OCUK RWYB Drag Meet 3 - Saturday September 16th - Santa Pod Raceway

Not only that but they seem to be selling as low as 50k already. At 50k seems like a great car, question is where is the bottom on these as they seem to be losing money fast.

His best time of the day was 12.0@127mph, never tried anything like dropping pressures, just went as a bit of fun.

In other news as we arrived we spotted a Lotus that looked like it had seen better days. Upon seeing a mate there he explained the Lotus spun out at the end of track at over 100mph and hit the wall. My mate then mentioned how this Lotus had also being on fire in the past due to cheap ebay parts at which point it clicked, it was Turbotoaster. From what I can gather he was fine, the car not so. Why it spun no one knows as it was at the end of the quarter mile.

A muppet but i hope he's ok.

What is the other car in that video? A Skyline?

Think so, very fast stuff there, yellow R33 Skyline was there doing around 9s at 160mph.

But most impressive of the day was a newish 335D X-Drive running consistent 11's, never spoke with owner but it was running 11.7-11.9 consistently, can't remember terminal speed, around 115mph I think. Very quick!

How do we not have pictures or videos of what happened?!

How did he manage to bin it at Shakey of all places... when we were at Pod for the late running night he ended up getting running and I'm not going to lie, his launch control sounded amazing!

No idea mate, the guy who saw it said it happened at the end of the quarter mile, so maybe when he came off power, no idea, maybe a suspension component broke. The main thing is he is OK, but for his well being I hope he just gives up on it and just buys a normal safe fast road car.

Took the Golf R to the Pod today along with my mates yellow Mustang:

12.1@127mph, a lot of wheelspin but still moving.

12.8@116mph in the Golf R, used LC and gearbox in S auto, unfortunately the front wheels spun, car dropped of boost and bogged, can be clearly seen on the video, as such 2.45s 60ft, was gutted as these cars normally cut sub 2s which would have being a high 11s pass:

So 3hr later due to crashes and being so busy, I got another run, so just decided to do as I do on the street and not use LC, as such just full throttle and gearbox in manual mode from a stop which netted a very impressive 12.2@116mph which is you could say the performance it can do from every stop even in the wet:

To be honest a little faster than I was expecting especially the 116mph terminals, 0-100 was taking 8.8s, could not get any more runs as I was hoping to try a launch without LC again but with gearbox in S Auto mode as that revs car harder so could be quickers and of course if the car hooked using LC it would have being high elevens.

Anyway downpipe gets fitted next week and custom stage 2 unicorn map, hoping that will push the terminals to around 122mph and around 11.3's, basically GTR performance in a Golf. :)

The other Golf R there today was a Stage 2 with custom map, essentially what mine becomes next week, it ran an 11.3@121mph on MPSS, proper quick machines.

Really impressive times and great cars these Golf Rs. I reall like them, I have seen a few at North weald and they pull off the line very quickly.
I always found that LC at say the pod or shakey was pointless as I always bogged down, I never had a clean launch. North weald was great as it was concrete, pure LC heaven lol
I resorted to bouncing my revs then launching which gave me a great launch diving into the low 1.8s high 1.7s ( Scooby not GTR )

I have yet to launch the GTR just floored it off the line gave me a 2.1 60ft 11.71 @ 125.
Lots of room to drop the 60ft, with a few techniques, plus the correct race settings
