[OcUK Staff Builds] rjkoneill's TJ07

Hi Rjkoneill the mCubed is a load balancer so you can plug all your fans in and is fully customizable so you can make all the fans balance here is a link to there website.

http://www.t-balancer.com/english/index.htm

I would look at the T-Balancer BigNG.

Also i see your going to raid 2 intel drives does anyone know if the trim function will work on them in raid? I know Samsung controller drives support raid trim i believe.

Cheers

Ulti

i have seen one of those before - didnt know what it was called
they seem expensive for something i can essentially control via the headers on the motherboard

and the rad fans are on low all the time

the intel drives should support TRIM with a firmware upgrade soon into the release of Win7

Trim for RAID has been confirmed and will probably become an added feature of the IMSM software [just my guess]

heres a pic of my new tinted side panel window [theres another on the op]
the little button head screws make it look superb
i was going to mod the panel and make it so the window was on the inside of the panel to make it flush, but this just looks great as it is

DSC01348.jpg

i would have got a better one but the panel reflects all the pics i took and makes them look rubbish - going to try to organise getting the system photographed properly soon :p

final pics now added with the modded dominator airflow fan and tinted window

apologies for the poor images, rubbish lighting now its getting darker

planning on getting it photographed properly soon

got some lighting ideas, just trying to work out what looks best before i commit

i have to say, funds are low at the moment. so the SSDs and lighting are on hold until my bank account looks a little tidier :D

mines very similar and im thinking of going white tubing as i have a tinted window like you (though i had to get it cut and i have an extra hole cut so my top RAD can get some air), will the white tubing show up under UV lights?
did you use 1/2 tube?
and what sort of temps are you getting, tempted to get a quad RAD but only if it will knock a bit off of the temps.

the white tubing is 7/16, im not sure if uv will make a difference [it must just go blue]

im not keen on uv cathodes though

i dont like uv, i just think it looks a bit tacky unless implemented well

i dont know how much it cost me
my bank account is in a sorry state though

its recovering though alongside the solid state fund :p

i gave up smoking so its going to a better cause

[even if i am a cranky bugger now ]

the bolts come with the window
they are button head m3 screws with an allen fitting

dont know exactly what they are called

ducky spud sent me a few allne bolts to fit my cpu block with, he also used some similar bolts to fit his motherboard/rads etc

perhaps he may know what they are called so you can search

sorry i cant be more help

You think I'll be able to get a non window panel from Silverstone?

RoEy

P.S. I love how you mounted the SSD's mate. Gonna copy that one. :)

just email them directly - their german offices are very good - if you PM me via trust i will give you the email address of the rep i spoke with, she is very helpful and quick to respond. her english is good and you should be able to get what you need

Very very nice. I like it.

thanks man, appreciate it :)

Nice bit of kit! :) I like that mounting idea as well... :)

seems the mounting idea for the SSDs went down a treat
you guys do know they are only stuck on with velcro... right?

Something possibly up with your boot time; I'm getting just over 16seconds with only one 80GB G2 which is strange....

the bootup time was on a 70% full array that has been in use for a bit

it was 11 secs when the installation was new :D

could still do with some new voters if anyone has missed it?

link in sig :)

thanks for your support guys

the funniest part of this is the fact that have more then twice the amount of fans then i do in my air cooled case:o

yeah, a lot of people mention that. they are all fan controlled though and they spin really slowly
i used thermochill radiators so that i could have the fans spinning slowly and making little noise.

wow, thats pretty cool :D

Thats a great achievement to become best in the UK. Must be well Happy.

Great build, Thanks for the excellent read. Your a hero.

i wouldnt go that far but thanks

thanks a lot for all the kind comments and support from the OcUK guys, its really appreciated

got some nice upgrades planned soon too :p

latest plans

right then, after an unusually long period of time not buying hardware i have decided to make some adjustments to my finished build

there were things that never got done that i wanted to get finished and never did

after living with a system for a while i always find faults and feel that things are not complete or need to improve in some way

these are minor adjustments and dont really fit in with the overall finished product

RAID0 Solid State drives suck. the performance degredation on them is inexcusable. in fact, so much so that i have decided that they will be coming out and a single 160GB intel drive will replace it for my OS and Apps

this should see an improvement [using latest firmware] in write performance and obviously allow me to use the all important TRIM function

i won a 160GB drive in the intel competition that i will be sticking in the system to run games exclusivley
i understand that this is massive and totally self indulgant, but i have spent a lot on steam this christmas :p

i am still waiting for something exciting to happen to graphics to make me justify an upgrade on the 4890s, but those cards eat everything maxxed out. going by the current rate of development in the gpu industry, it will be a year before i even consider an upgrade

aesthetically the system is missing something, i have grown a dislike towards the roof fans, they looked good to start with but dont realistically push a lot of air and i think something a bit more pleasing to the eye is required

the solution is a roof window, similar to the murdermod example, but obviously without the murdermod logo etc

topwindowtj07.jpg

this example shows a clear window but i will be aiming to have a tinted window to match the tinted side panel window - hopefully this should mean that the stealthy exterior remains

i have also realised that whilst the tinted windows look amazing, they do restrict the ability to view the hardware and interior of the case
lets face it this is where all of my work went into so i want to show it off.

initially i was going to bang some cathodes in there or make some kind of LED system to go behind the motherboard.

my computer deserves a treat so i will be ordering a murdermod luminous panel to light up the system subtly and show the interior through the tinted windows.

it should fit in with the overall theme of the build and provide a nice finishing touch whilst also making the entire system look a little more exotic.

let me know your thoughts guys, any input is always appreciated :)
