My 2x512mb OCZ PC4200 EL Platinum has just come back from RMA - hey arn't OCZ good with RMAs :D .

I now want to use in in my DFI Ultra D with a 146 @2.8GHz; on a divider of 166 and setting the RAM @ 2.5-3-3-8 1T with 2.8v it does not want to know (keeps rebooting when entering windows, when it does get into windows super-PI won't run as it is "not in exact round" very quickly); with my corsair 2x512 XMS3200XL set at the same values all is well.

The OCZ in an AsRock dual S939 with a 3000 winchester @ 2.43GHz, running 166 divider 221, 2-3-3-7 1T @ high volts (2.7v I guess) the RAM passes all tests.

So I guess the RAM is OK, but is there a problem with it and the DFI? and which 2x512mb kit would people recommend as best with my DFI setup?

Thanks

T

Expecting a different set of memory from a different vendor to perform the same as another set is a bit hopeful! You just might have to consider the possibility that the RAM you have simply doesn't like the current settings.

Try sticking the dimms into the Yellow slots if u have them in Orange and vice versa.

Why are u underclocking your ram when it could go way past 500mhz?

300x9= 2.7ghz
LDT @ x3
ram 166 @ stock timings

Try that

My OCZ is also picky and unstable at anything over 225Mhz and what you try is 233Mhz

What BIOS version are you using on your DFI mobo?

The Bios is BIGTOE 704-2a. Before one stick gave trouble and needed RMAing; I had them running in a K8N Neo2 at 233 /166divider 2.5-3-3-8 1T @ 2.75v with the same 146 cpu - see sig.

I don't mind leaving the OCZ in the Asrock but the Corsair XL is only temp. in the DFI; what I would really like to know is which 2 x 512mb kit should I get which will work with the 146 and DFI?

Thanks

Have you tried running them 1:1 in the yellow slots? as that RAM is rated to run at 263Mhz so that might mean the yellow slots are better as they are for high speed and the orange ones are for low timings.

Tried both sets of slots - makes no difference; at present the corsair XL is in the yellow slots.

I've got XL and it's only stable @ high speeds with loose timings

I'm currently running mine @ 474mhz 3-4-3-7 1T...
Bare in mind XL is designed for 2-2-2-5 use so loosen the timings and u should be fine.

The XL works fine; but they are borrowed, so I needed something instead - now I've got some Patriot XLB on the way. I hope these will be OK.
