GC is garbage collection. It basically what some maunfacturers implemented before TRIM when people started to get issues with dramatically falling performance.
GC runs AFAIK when the PC goes idle, in that it then does work to prepare the spare area of the disk for writes. Where as if the spare area isnt prepared and contains fragmented data etc it needs to do multiple reads and writes. Anandtech did a great writeup of how SSDs work that coves this as well if I remember correctly
I might win lottery this week then i can buy one lol. I will just wait for them to come in at a price people can afford. All this new tech prices are just getting out of hand.
