OCZ rma is a joke

just out of curiosity (as i never really rma'd with manufacture before) which companies are best with rma (gonna make a new pc soon and might as well make sure the expensive components are from decent companies....just in case)

Corsair/Logitech/Antec/EVGA/Acoustic Energy

These have been the best for me

I have to say with my first order with OCUK 50% of the parts recieved were faulty i was feeling ripped off and angry that i never buy or recommend this place to anyone... like most warranties i took with a pinch of salt even within 5 working days many smaller companies refuse to honour even basic legal rights.

I judge anyone on how they perform when things go wrong, when contacting OCUK none of the usual cynical attitude or excuses why its tough luck was mentioned. OCUK exchanged all the faults bar one giving a full refund on OCZ RAM without any hassles making the whole RMA process clear and easy. This has encouraged me to pay bit more for expensive things in near future here like graphics cards just to make life little easier if things do go wrong I hope it won't be just tough luck.

They have got my series-z 850 atm cost me £20 inc with DHL they got it in 2 days .....but have had it 9 days now with no word, my questions go for days without an answer on there forum untill i start a rant :)

Agree with Logitech, such a good company and RMA is flawless. Unlikes some others..

+1 there CS is excellent, and there rma service is the best imo. Isn't there a Advanced rma option with OCZ? i used it with Corsair as i needed a quick replacement for my 8gb corsair survivor. Although it cost me £7 to send with insurance.

I had some OCZ ram that i had to RMA a few months ago. To be fair to OCZ they were great about it and it all went smoothly. I sent the ram to the Netherlands in it's original packaging in a Jiffy bag.

I just sent it normal post and it cost 80 pence. Received a replacement about 10 days later from California. I do agree that if the product is faulty the company should shoulder the postage costs though.

I have just sent my OCZ Modstream 600W PSU back to the netherlands and got robbed by parcelforce. £31 kerching!

with my hat in hand I am currently trying to negotiate a bit of compensation in the form of an upgrade from a some clown who calls himself Ryder... I wont hold my breath, so far he is basically just rattling off some very rude, uniform and abrupt sentences to put me off.

next time i buy something im going to really check out the RMA process before pulling the trigger.

Thanks for the tips about logitech and corsair by the way guys.

Im pretty sure that if the product is faulty within a reasonable timeframe (i think its safe to assume the manufac warranty is reasonable timeframe) then they should re-imburse the postage costs if the product proves to be faulty after testing.

a quote from whatconsumerinformation

Warranties are basically a commitment to repair or replace defective parts within a specified time frame (usually 12 months), although beware of any small print requiring the consumer to bear the cost of any shipping, labour etc as this runs contrary to the Sale of Goods Act which states that it is the seller’s (retailer’s) responsibility to ensure the goods are repaired or replaced at no cost, minimum inconvenience and within reasonable time. Previously there was some doubt as to the legal status of such documents, but European regulations have now confirmed that warranties are legally binding contractual obligations between the manufacturer, or retailer and the consumer for the time frame indicated.

Its like Holland is one big post office. I currently work for a company who's RMA's all go to The Netherlands as well :-)

Madness. The best way to do it (at least in my opinion) is that most companies offer a service where you pay them money (the company i work for is 23 pounds) to get an advanced shipment along with a pre-paid label to use services such as UPS to return it. That way its guaranteed you wont pay more than 23 pounds to return it. Contact them to see if they offer such an option so you dont have to spend 30 odd quid

Im so glad im not the only one whos had issues with OCZ. Dumped that company years ago.

I had a wd 200gb drive go on me 3years back. They sent me a new one, gave me a packing label and collected it for the faulty one.

Logitech however are the true gods of RMA :D.

reminds me of when my many ipods have broken. Apple send you a box in the post, then they send you a man to collect the box, then they send you a new ipod. it took about 2 weeks to complete the whole process :)

ive had a logitech speaker system for 5 years and a mouse of theirs for about 6 years. no problems at all so not only is the rma process sound with them you probably wont have to use it.

Quite a lot of manufacturers will ask you to ship an RMA at your own cost, evga being one that i had to go through, (Germany), £35.00 for a motherboard via RMSD. Viewsonic were excellent though, my vx2025 lcd developed a fault, they sent me a new screen and the courier that delivered it picked the faulty one up.

i've had a simlar experience from illyama

a new monitor i got broken, they sent out the replacement via courier

i then had another monitor that broke after 5 years, way past the warrenty, but they still sent out a courier to pick it up to be fixed, and i only had to pay the small amount to get it fixed

Companies like evga are now offering advanced europe rma where you print a shipping ticket within 30 days of purchase and that is valid until your warranty expires!!! Also they send you a replacement first. Hopefully more companies will start doing this for ukncustomers

I'll join in with the obligatory me too! Mine is also a ModXStream 700w and is also over a year old and dead :( New Corsair HX850 is AWESOME however, so every cloud and all that :p

Merlin5 did you have any luck "hassling" OCZ on their forums to get free postage?

agree

I've only had to use them once. touch wood. but it was so easy.
bluetooth hub stopped working on my dinovo keyboard so they sent full replacement.
All they asked I do was chop the usb connector off the hub and remove the legs from the keyboard and send them back. was a lot cheaper than sending the full thing.
and they sent the new keyboard out first before i sent anything back.

The old keyboard itself was fine so i just got a standard usb bluetooth dongle and now use it with htpc where the fact it has no legs doesn't bother me.
