Ohhh it's this week already?! Pre-ordered mine aeons ago and totally forgot it was getting so close! I'm really looking forward to it, having watched and read some features and previews on it it really seems like they've addressed almost all of my concerns. Though I have converted to the other side since this game launched and will be playing through it on PS3 this time 'round instead of 360 :p
 
I bought the original on launch, but it is still sealed on my shelf. Not cos I don't want to play it, just I've never had the chance and had so many other games.

So I preordered Dark Arisen this morning and will sell my sealed copy, no point in opening that and playing that one, when I can get new content, few enhancements to the original + more for £17 ish. Gonna play it this time!

It's probably not worth opening the game for and depreciating the value, but you do get some additional bonuses for having owned and played the original such as unlimited port crystals (these can be bought in-game but it'll save you a hell of a lot of money and time as you can teleport for free).

This. I hated playing New Game+ as after you spend a few hours in the Everfall you can pretty much sneeze in an enemy's direction to kill them. Just made the game yawn-worthy when all it'd take is a single arrow to kill an enemy :p
 
Hmm I started playing the original quite late on and never got that far in so was kind of hoping for a brand new game. Nowhere near as interested in the expansion.

I think they were intending to have it released as DLC at first but they ran into technical limitations and had to re-release it in its entirety. It sounds like the content is aimed more at people who had completed the game numerous times, done all there is to do, or got bored of killing the Ur-dragon over and over and wanted more of a challenge with more things to do and more gear to collect. Maybe it'll appeal to you more once you've run through the whole thing once and ended up with all the best armour and weapons and have it all Dragonforged :p
 
will definately pick this up when i get myself another ps3 (gave my last one away).


Really really hope this time they have more enemies on the screen at same time. I know its been confirmed harder mode and more variety of enemies but will still be too easy if its just getting attacked by 4 orcs.... i mean jeez 4 orcs.....thats not a horde thats a knitting group...

i want at least 30 or 40 (or 4000 if possible :D)....i want to be able to re-enact scenes from lord of the rings dammit


Also have they fixed the AI ? veterans of the first one will know what i mean

Hi Surfer, I played through the first one at the same time as yourself (me, you and R0B75 if you remember?).

I have picked up Dark Arisen, I have to say I wouldn't recommend it if you have already played through. Great for new players though.

Hard Mode: This has to be picked when you start a new game. At the start it is pretty daft (2 hits from the snow harpies in the prologue will kill you).

Whilst this can be mitigated for as the player character, watching your pawns do incredibly daft things as is their way and getting killed constantly is disappointing. I spent a good deal of time solo during fights.

So then I thought well I'll just gain a few levels first on normal (say to level 10) so that the pawns have more hit points and then up the difficulty.

The game restarts if you choose hard mode, albeit you keep your levels.

I couldn't be bothered playing on from there.

No fix to the AI, no extra enemies on screen...I loved this game playing through it the first time (going back a few pages on this thread was a trip down memory lane) but I lack the motivation to get into it all over again.

I have been playing Dark Souls a lot recently, a different beast but one that is holding my attention.

If you haven't played it yet, I would highly recommend it.

Why are there lack of dark arisen pawns in the rift? I bought the original for his game on launch, though never unwrapped it, so decided to get this instead, and I've started playing it but every pawn in the rift is a DD pawn, I won't to find pawns I can rate and give RC's to.

Also, I'm only level 15, but my pawn, for the level I think is pretty good, but he has never been hired once. I assume its cos the rift clogs DA players with DD pawns only, so mine is never seen.

Anyone else playing DA got this problem? You had your pawn hired?
 
Mine hasn't, been hiring some pawns though usually leave something in their inv or give them something when I disband them as they get too low lvl, I was running around with lvl 6 pawns at lvl 18 and wondered why they kept dying, bit of a noob moment when I realised that they didn't lvl, should have thought about that seems a bit obvious now.

I do have a small gripe with the lack of structure of the quests, been a few I cant do, had an escort 1 at lvl 19 I think to shadow fort and they brigands totally mauled me and the team, was still miles away from the fort, have another quest have to find some thieves and there is chimaeras and invis lizards on the way, had to go back and do something else, currently lvl 23 was a strider but switched to ranger and have lost a lot of my handy bow abilities.
 
Can you have a Daragon's Dogma save game AND a Dark Arisen save game on your PS3 at the same time? Presumably the DA one would overwrite the DD one correct?
 
I just wiped my DA game, as I wanted to play the original to get the eternal ferrystone (only found out bout this recently).

And after creating my bog standard pawn, I rested about 10 minutes after and my pawn had returned from assisting someone else already. Although the stats said he was hired "0" times which is a bit strange, as it definitely told me he had returned and I was given 3 items... so presumably he was used 3 times? I'm guessing the status details are out of sync maybe.

I'm gonna continue playing in DD for a while, then upgrade to DA, cos this shows how lack of activity there is in DA pawn hiring if my level 18 was never used in DA and my level 4 was used 3 times in DD.
