***Offical Game of Year Contender Dragons Dogma***

Hi Surfer, I played through the first one at the same time as yourself (me, you and R0B75 if you remember?).

I have picked up Dark Arisen, I have to say I wouldn't recommend it if you have already played through. Great for new players though.

Hard Mode: This has to be picked when you start a new game. At the start it is pretty daft (2 hits from the snow harpies in the prologue will kill you).

Whilst this can be mitigated for as the player character, watching your pawns do incredibly daft things as is their way and getting killed constantly is disappointing. I spent a good deal of time solo during fights.

So then I thought well I'll just gain a few levels first on normal (say to level 10) so that the pawns have more hit points and then up the difficulty.

The game restarts if you choose hard mode, albeit you keep your levels.

I couldn't be bothered playing on from there.

No fix to the AI, no extra enemies on screen...I loved this game playing through it the first time (going back a few pages on this thread was a trip down memory lane) but I lack the motivation to get into it all over again.

I have been playing Dark Souls a lot recently, a different beast but one that is holding my attention.

If you haven't played it yet, I would highly recommend it.

I hope this post is of some use. Cheers! :)

ahh shame Dragons Dogma had sooo much potential, it really did...a lot of things it did right. Maybe i'll wait for a proper sequel DD2

Yeah ive actually played Dark Souls twice on different PS3s once on my ps3 in UK played for donkey amount of hours level 80 ish then played it on mates ps3 in Taiwan got to lvl 70 ish (but deliberately trying not to level just upgrade loads of weapons). first time round i got the chaos blade which was a waste so 2nd time round got the furysword instead...looks pretty sweet and i would swap between that and an upgraded black knight sword and another heaving hitting sword (cant quite remember)

I agree, have a look at the sequel trailer/teaser on YouTube, it is called "Deep Down" and was shown at the PS4 reveal.

I'm playing through dark souls with very light armor (thiefs) using the estoc and target shield (I want to get better at parrying), but my main weapon is the composite bow.

Very different experience to my heavy armor b-sword play through :)

Wasn't Deep Down just a tech demo for the PS4? I'm sure it will turn in to a game at some point, but has it been officially announced by Capcom it's a Dragon's Dogma sequel?

Just seen Dragons Dogma pre-owned, in a certain high-street store that went bust and came then back, for £40. £40 second hand, are they having a bleeding laugh?

Been playing this a lot the past few days, and I mean a lot, I'm pretty addicted to it right now!

Initially I was skeptical about this online pawn hiring stuff, but I now feel it is a fantastic mechanic and works really well. Knowing I'm using a pawn someone else has created, and hoping every time I sleep I wake up being informed someone else has hired my pawn is quite exciting.

Its definitely keeping me occupied during the long wait for Dark Souls 2 that is for sure.

That's them for you  they charge more than I paid for Collector's Editions of games for a Standard Edition. I guess some people will pay the downright extortionate prices to get their games the same day. Hilarious though, I paid about £12 for Dark Arisen's pre-order, and the original can be bought for like £10 :p

quick question what do u do with the 10 badges you collect from the pawn guild board, are they used for anything or can i sell them as they are worth 5k each?

I've stashed mine in storage just in case I need them later, but I'm sure someone who has finished the game can confirm if they are used later. I'm keeping them for a rainy day anyway, when I might need an injection of cash

I dont understand what is happening with the Rift.

When i played DD every pawn you used; when released would give you the option to rate and gift an item to the pawns owner. Im currently lvl23 on a new playthrough (i wiped my DD save to replace with a fresh DA game) and not once have i been prompted to rate any of the pawns. Likewise my DA pawn hasnt been hired yet either (meaning no Rift Crystals earned yet).

What gives?

DD players can't hire (or even see) DA pawns, and DA players can only hire DD pawns, but can't gift them.

Its cos of the new content, DD players don't have the new content on their game, so it wouldn't be able to gift that stuff.

Don't worry, my pawn hasn't been hired yet, I'm level 34, but I'm starting to see more and more DA players in the rift, so the higher the level the more DA players you see in the rift. Early stages I never saw one in there.

Ive only had 1 pawn which i have hoired that i could gift and rate when i kicked them, as for my pawn being hired, nope she hasnt been yet, not sure why pretty powerful sorc with whirlwind and cometfall spells, all her gear is 3 stars ( though proberly low lvl stuff) current lvl is about 35/7. Side note is the rift crystals only for hiring pawns that are a higher lvl than you? as i have a few ppl on my firends list whith highish lvl pawns which i can hire witout needing rift crystals.

Ah right thanks for that.

I took another look last night and noticed every pawn in the rift was showing "--------" for the owner? is this the same thing perhaps? I'm playing while connected to Xbox Live and my save is located in Cloud storage so connectivity deffinately isnt the cause (which i suspected at first).

I just wish you could specify more criteria while searching for pawns rather than just level.

Cheers. I also sorted the issue in the end, for some reason when i started the new Dark Arisen playthrough instead of continuing my DD save the game had defaulted back to offline play in the options

After switching this back to Online i can now see pawns with owners in the rift again. I have rushed through the game to beat the dragon and venture onto the Isle to checkout the DLC content which was an oversight on my part, i totally missed the Witchwood quests/area and am now unable to access Kingbay Leafs for upgrades.

I also had no idea how useless Magic users are against golems so ive promptly ditched that idea and gone Magic Knight instead for a trade-off.

Any PS3 dragons dogma players in here? If so, any chance one of you could go in the rift and search for my PSN username "keogh" and see what pawn I have? Can you tell me his name, as I'm wondering if my pawn hasn't synced properly as there was an issue with this from DD to DA.

I'm playing the original right now, but Dark Arisen players should still see me.

No need to hire my pawn if u don't need him, just wanna know if he is in there correctly.

Thanks!

Got Dark Arisen via PS+ for free so started it up and loaded up my old save many many months ago from DD.

And uhh according to the chronicle ive killed the main dragon and pretty much finished the main quest...i think.

Is this supposed to happen automatically or something????

I dont mind story spoilers if someone wants to tell me.

Bit annoyed because im pretty sure i hadnt finished the main quest coz you go into the everfall in postgame right?

I might have another try of Ni no Kuni (though i dont like the RT combat at all though i like the story and everything else) dont think i can sell it for that much now though unfortunately.

GTA 5 i would prolly get about £20 ish yeah?
