***** Official 2014 BBQ Thread - Sun is out, time to grill!! *****

Forgot to take a picture of it on the smoker but I'll definitely get one when it's done. Temp is sitting happily at 235F with the meat currently at 151F :) I did just go and open the vents more because it dropped to 223F. So far I've managed to resist taking the lid off to have a peek but I rally want to see how it looks :)

Looks like I've hit the stall. The butt has been at 156F for about an hour and 15 mins now :) Smoker is steady at 246F atm after topping up the water pan. It shot up to 298F when the water had all evaporated. Topped it up about an hour ago.

I've also just been to check on the coals. There's only a layer left. I put in a full layer of BigK restaurant grade lumpwood and a layer of SupaGrill briquettes that were lit in the chimney starter. Hopefully the BigK will burn slowly but a lot of them seem to have burnt away. I'm hoping I won't have to light another load of briquettes but I reckon I may have to :(

Haha I'll post pics tomorrow morning, I promise! Took it off at 195F and enjoyed an amazing pulled pork sandwich with homemade BBQ sauce :)

Looks good! I had to abandon the pulled pork in the smoker this Saturday when the weather took a turn for the worse, ended up doing it in the oven, I did manage to do 2 racks of ribs on the Sunday however.
I think I was a bit heavy on the wood chips as they were pretty much smoked all the way through! I completely failed to take a picture though! I was too distracted by the TV :)

On the plus side, there was quite a lot of left overs, so pulled pork sandwiches and ribs all week for lunch! Huzzah!

mmm - I found that I can start a BBQ from zero to melting aluminium in about a minute using the hose on the output of the garage vacuum. Only thing is that it cremates lump wood at a stupid pace - sort of turns the BBQ into a foundry..

I really need to make myself a smoker for next year :D Barrel cut with grill held with screws..

Try cooking some steak on it whilst the vacuum is running. I imagine it would be immense :)

A couple of pictures of the Turner & George packer cut brisket, will be my first brisket on the smoker and very keen to get it right.

Arrived this morning, came packed in a box with foam insulation and ice packs. Absolutely beautiful picece of meat, can't wait to get it on the smoker tomorrow night.

That brisket looks amazing. Looking forward to hearing about how it goes.

I just finished eating some tasty beef and pork ribs. Didn't get any pictures sorry :/ I am also making pro pork pies atm so I will post up those shortly.
