**Official 3D Mark 11 scores**

that 460 is the pny refurb? looks like I'll be checking they've put thermal paste on my bros 470 when it arrives then..

Yup both are the refurbs. I was going to use that for either folding or as a hybrid physX card...but decided to make a keyring for my brother instead.

Was kinda surprised that there was NO TIM whatsoever. I'd give it a check if i were you. The 480 had plenty however.

Sorry forgot to save the two card result as a project but I assure you its my score.

Just like Vantage this bench becomes more and more about CPU power and memory tweaking as you add cards.

Thanks to Gibbo and all the team at OCUK.

No I bought them but was given amazing service as Gibbo saved me the last few original Lightenings and then when one failed to boot the RMA was very very quick. The time scale was so tight for me to get this done and the service was top notch.

I have a better 3930K CPU in hand too that can do 5.6ghz with high DRAM speed. So the best is yet to come as they say lol!!!

Oh and then there is Quad fire to play with too!!!

Very nice

I never though I would see HD 7970s go that well on this benchmark.

Yes you want to get the old 3930k out quick, its letting the side down on memory. My 24/7 memory settings are better than that.:D:p:D

Cracking scores on those HD 7970s though.

On a serious note I tried to build a rig today with my new CPU in it but crashed at the first hurdle. I had been sent the wrong/missing pump parts so will have to wait to see how my new CPU goes.

Those dimm settings are optimal for the bench mark. After cas and tras the seconds and thirds are more important. TRAS less than 28 gave me no benefit.

I know you can run the dimms higher/tighter but I just could not resist it.

How much better is your new CPU for memory 2600mhz +

Not sure on that I have not tested max DRAM yet. I have only found one out of about ten to do DDR2600 and it did not clock that great sadly.

What volatages do you have on the core and the memory to run the cards at that speed please?

Also why on your trifire benchmark do you have the cards running faster than the dual xfire? ;)

Good point bud I will look at that again. I binned the cards first maybe for two cards I chose the wrong ones. hmmmmmmm we will see.

Voltage on Core is 1.4 ish, mem 1.85, Aux +50 with 120 power limit. The best card should go great on cascade.

I am gonna run two cards again today thats bugging me!!! lol!!!

8 Pack out of interest what cooling system do you use to cool your x79 rig with.

Cheers

Multi Card chilled liquid. Single stage phase on CPU. This is benching not 24/7.

Single card Csacade -110.

I was just interested in what you use for the CPU. I will never build a PC that can not be used 24/7 so for me custom watercooling is the next and also final step.

The other reason I was interested is I think I read on one of your posts that X79 does not like getting too cold.

SB-E does not. About -50 any colder memory controller cold bugs and no boot.

Thats why I dont use cascade on CPU.
