Well you would still only just manage 12k on a highly clocked 4700k with good 2400mhz ram. Sure the scores would look like a really well balanced system with 12k on both GPU and CPU but you would not really see too much of a difference in games. Enjoy the system and wait for 8 cores.

I intend to. I know the 2500K is ample for gaming with a single GPU for the time being, going to see what AMD's Steamroller looks like before I even think of getting rid of the 2500K.

I get that physics score with my i5 760 at 4.3ghz, surely something wrong?

It looks fairly similar to other i5 processors on the leaderboard, all seem to be around the 7,000-8,000 mark with a couple of exceptions.

In games though your processor would be much better.
4.3ghz for me is only good for bench runs.
I just waiting for 290's with after market coolers as my 6870 is a serious bottleneck

I KNOW that having 30-40c load temps at 1.38v you'll be able to run higher. My 7970 did the same; 1270-1300 depending on the bench. Got a block on it, and now im top 7970 single gpu in the thread
