****Official 6850/6870 Reviews thread****

For the price, I'm really considering moving from the 1gb 4870 to a 6870, they do have nice performance for the price they can be picked up for.
The 4870's power use at idle/desktop/web browsing is just becoming an annoyance... More of the PCs time is spent not at full load gaming, I need a card that'll do the job.

The only thing that annoys me about the 6850 and 6870 is the naming.
It should be 6770 and 6830 and that's really pushing it for a 68*0 name.

The HD6000 series is returning to the naming strategy seen with the HD3000 and HD4000 series.
 
I don't understand why everyone's so caught up on the naming it all makes perfect sence to me, the plan to release a super cheap low end version eventually which is why they wanted to save the 67xx designation. Its not a marketing ploy or a cheap trick its just that the release order is mid ---> high ---> low.
