keep them coming! Great stuff 6870 at £170 is a steal!
I think you just pulled that price out of thin air. The cheapest it's been, that I know of, since it's release last Friday was £176.45 for a Sapphire version and that was a special pre-order price.

Currently the cheapest I can find delivered is £179.98, but this is a "VTX3D" version, whatever that is.

Ok here we go..

and finally as above but with gpu at 1000 and mem at 1200

The last run needed the fan set manually as the auto profile didn't ramp it up fast enough to prevent it glitching otherwise.

On par with my 5850 overclocked to 950/1200 don't know why but i was expecting more from the 6870

BUT ON A PRICE/PERFORMANCE SCALE YOU REALLY CAN'T LOSE "PAT ON THE BACK FOR AMD"

I'v seen it at a similar price for stock, not 'pre order', however unsurprisingly they have sold out...

Guess the 68** overclock scaling is far worse than the 58** cards.

Sometimes you really need to look at the info before you speak. The 6870 with 100 core added on which is around 11 percent is giving around an 11 percent increase in performance. This is pretty much perfect scaling. The 5850 with 950 core is somehwere around 30% of an overclock so off course its going to catch up.

Your running 10.10 drivers which i think give you more FPS.
He's running 10.10A.

the last 4 sets of drivers give me between 0,2 and 0.7 FPS difference

my unigine scores have always been 35.8-36.9 since drivers 10.4

I was just expecting more for 1000 core

how many shaders does the 5850 have and the 6870

I was just about to say this

but on a price/performance the 6870 looks very good bit offput by people mentioning problems with cooling tho, something that can easily be rectified with the help of a prolimatech mk-13 :D

I really can't see the 6870 taking much more wihtout going under water

anyone answer my shaders question

Yeah and a 5850 at 950 core is on par with a 6870 at 1000 core, as a replacement for the 5850 that's kind of disappointing.

We both know that the 6870 is not replacing the 5850. That card will be the 6950. We also have to wait and see what these cards can do with voltage tweaking. Without voltage tweaking we do know that the 5850 will not reach 950 on the core.

5850 has 1440

6870 has 1120

So the 6870 is doing pretting well in my books considering it has 320 less shaders and there are some pretty shader heavy areas in unigine.

Please don't compare the 6870 because of 1 good 5850 result, i was just throwing in a curve ball to see what peoples thoughts were.
