*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

theres a setting in game options titled "floating" something or other. Turning it as low as poss removed a lot of my mouse lag.

I joined a clan this week, rusty in places. Its ace talking to people on vent, you can play it properly then. They have explained the game to me and i'm enjoying it a lot more now!

I love flying the Osprey!!!

EDIT: Are people using XP x64 or XP x32? I have both can install either on my spare HDD, does the game really run that much better in xp?????

Is there no in-game voice? I havn't had a look and didnt have my mic plugged in last night. Although I need a new headset, ive worn my current one so much the ear cushion has gone on the right side.

But I totally loved the first mission multiplayer thing last night. It was fantastic. The second one was a bit strange, mainly because I wanted to be team leader but it gave it to Knightstalker who was our sniper.. weird!

Xp 32 is the way to go.

Been playing Evo0.6 on a locked server. OMG is ****ing amazing fun. Muff modded the map so you get unlocks quicker, much more fun that way.

What kind of FPS do folk get on these MP servers? I'm at an unplayable 20-30.

See a lot of complaints in the thread ( and over on the Bis forums ) and although I have had a few little issues here and there, just to balance things up in case anyone is reading this thread and considering buying the game, I have to say that I am absolutely loving it. :D

The sandbox format of the campaign is just astounding sometimes ( you will know what I mean once you get to Manhattan base ;) ).

Yes- it has bugs that are annoying, there's no denying that but I am simply hooked on this game. I've spent hours playing so far and have hardly scratched the surface.

As far as performance goes, my system is pretty mediocre and although I'm only running at 1440x900, it looks stunning and plays very smoothly for me. Mind you, maybe some of us are just lucky in that respect as I recall the same happening in the big GTA IV thread. Loads of folk with pretty high end system complaining that the game ran seriously badly for them yet GTA IV ran as smooth as a babys bum for me.

That said, everyone has different opinions as to what they consider "good" to be when it comes to "the game runs good". Different expectations of their systems and how they "think" the game should run for them.

Maybe I have low/medium/reasonable expectations ( or I'm just playing at probably the lowest res that most are playing at :p ).

Yeah mate also loving the game here, been a fan of Opflash and subsequent add-ons etc and ARMA but this runs so badly. No matter what settings change or resolution used it appears to be the same. I can wait for patches but I'm curious to see what kind of frames people are getting. I would urge anybody who enjoyed Opflassh or ARMA then give this ago as it has SERIOUS potential. As soon as the custom pas start rolling out etc this is going to be an awesome game.

I agree it is an amazing game and in my opinion the best in the series so far. If they can hammer the performance issue or I can get it to run what I consider acceptable then I'm a happy chap. 60 fps + is what I consider acceptable a mix of eye candy and performance suits me. I adjust the setting to reach the required FPS. However no mater what I do I get the same frames. To me that is an issue with either vista the game or both.

Thinking of installing it on my XP drive....

Well, that you only find 60+ fps acceptable may explain why some are happy with the performance of the game while others are unhappy. I can live with around 30 fps - feels smooth to me.

I am willing to settle for 25-30 fps to get this. Thats on Vista by the way.

Yeah maybe your right when people say it runs smooth as silk etc then I presume people mean that they are hitting 60fps+ I got that in OPflash and also in ARMA as the options WERE scalable and did affect the performance.

Everybody is different in what is acceptable, I just wish I could see 30fps+ as playable if it was a solid 30 then maybe I could accept it but on my sys is is up and down every other minute. Forests etc are fine Urban built up areas, forget it.

Believe me I do like posting negative info about a game that I want to run so badly. But there is defo a problem on some system set ups

I'm even considering buying a different GPU or buying another 4870 x2 to X-Fire, thats how much I want this game to run well on ANY settings. Not that X-fire would make much difference it might just give me more issues.

I will continue to play as is though as it is fantacstic. Playing the coop campaign with a mate last night was just pure quality.
