*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

I think a lot of the people complaining about the game simply do no research into what they are buying beforehand.

In my case this is probably right.

I've not had any issues with performance and am happy at the way it runs. My reason for not liking it simply stems from it not being quite the right game for me, the AI is simply idiotic at times, stupendously so. My brief foray into multiplayer seems to have encountered either people running about like headless chickens with minimal teamwork, or alternatively ultra-serious wannabee soldiers living their fantasies through a video game. Theres no doubt a middle between those two, but from reading a few sites it looks like its going to require being in a clan and a level of time investment that I simply cant do in order to really get the most from it.

I most definately salute BIS for the concept and ambition of the title, its just not turned out to be the right kind of game for me.

I agree that the game does require an investment of time to a degree although as a Sim Racer, I have grown to like that in my games.

I think give multiplayer a shot with some guys from this forum. You may see the other side to the game as the developers intended. It does offer something VERY special, just stick it out and you will be rewarded.

Regarding multiplayer, give it a few months, when all the randoms have got bored and moved onto OFP:DR the Multiplayer will be great again as it was in Armed Assault.

Another reason I love ARMA is the community is a more "Mature" one compared to most games nowadays although that is why I like my Sim Racing as it is a more mature set of gamers and banter consists of more than "YOU SUCKOR$".

Give it a few more weeks too when it is FULLY released and we arrange some games from this forum, should be great fun and I imagine that the majority here would want to play the game as INTENDED.

Also everyone is on the learning curve at the moment. I went into the OcUK MP game last night with only playing a 10 min scenario. I hadnt even gotten used to the context menu and found myself as captain.. doh!

So a bit of leniency is required, until you find someone TK'ing everyone at base because they can't figure out what to do/wont follow their commander's orders.

Thanks for the options but its ok, I am very happy that I bought it and gave it a try. Its not quite panned out for me, but thats fine too, cant like every game after all. I have no regrets.

Could be that sticking it out might turn my head a little, but frankly what with it being summer and work, family, other games which I am currently involved in, I just dont have the time or the inclination to work at liking something. In the current situation its got to be a like it straight off the bat kind of thing.

Like I say though, I've no regrets about buying it. I bought it, tried it, wasnt quite for me. I havent a problem with that, happy that I tried it otherwise I would be reading Arma2 thread after Arma2 thread and always wondering. This way I dont need to wonder anymore and the Arma2 threads will stop catching my eye and causing the question to arise.

From what I've seen of the game, its destined to be a pretty big success. Just not a title that fits with me. Which is ok, cant like every game (which is just as well really otherwise it would cost me a fortune buying every game on the shelf :D )

As said before I only got the game yesterday and training is totally messed up.
I haven't tried a single actual mission as I'll leave it until more of the bugs to get sorted.

My biggest problem apart from a slow pc is that I've had 5 ctd's and 4 complete system lockups mostly using the editor as that for me is the only part I'm interested in until I get a bigger PC.
I was going to get a new PC to play this game but because of the bugs I can delay it until it's more stable and not constantly crashing.

Im linking this game but im struggling. Im on the mission Razor 2 i think, the one where you have to find the evidence and the two guys. Ive gone to see the bloke in the base and hes marked some red crossed on my map. How do i set way points to these, i clicked on the map and i got a black x but when i exit the map i have no way-point arrow but the black mark on the map is still there.
Just use your GPS grid coordinates and the compass.
Thanks.

Explain please. How do I set a waypoint in a single player scenario. You say use your GPS and compass. They just tell you where you are. I want to enter a waypoint so that I command my driver to go there. Cheers.

If your inside the same vehicle that you want to command to move, just open the map and click on the map where you want to go and the drive will move, that or he wiill get stuck in someones garden.

Cool! Provided you've got the driver selected (of-course). An excellent way to see the countryside too! As long as there's not too much in the way (e.g. other vehicles) this works really well. I'm not sure if I like the driver turning his head while driving though :-) Thanks.
