*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

Cool! Provided you've got the driver selected (of-course). An excellent way to see the countryside too! As long as there's not too much in the way (e.g. other vehicles) this works really well. I'm not sure if I like the driver turning his head while driving though :-) Thanks.

Ok ill give this ago, but how do you set a marker, like when you do the 1st mission you have a waypoint on the screen at all times, telling you how far away your goal is. once i got into the base and spoke to the bloke my waypoints have gone, i know this is because i need to find the evidence myself so can i put a marker on the map that i can see at all times so in know where im going? not so i can command my men there. hope that makes sense lol

thanks.

khemist its not my video:
A quick one I made last night:

Fansadox, would you mind posting your recording settings/software and render settings? I 've recorded this one using Fraps at half res (1680x1050/2) and 29,7 FPS, then rendered to a .mov using Adobe Premiere and these settings, but I think the colors got a bit washed out.

^^Video made with a 8800gt
The 8800GT cannot handle everything on very high... I 'm looking for an upgrade by the end of the summer myself :) .

this game is marmite, a lot will sell it on because it looks like bf2 but isnt even close (in gameplay style)

Spec guide :
E4300 @ 3.0 Ghz
8800gt KO
2x2GB 1000mhz DDR2
X-fi Platinum
3800m view distance

I know you get a lot of these questions, i searched this thread and cant find if an E6600 and ATI 3870 will run this? And at roughly what settings?

Thanks

low medium afaik

from the 2nd lvl. darn pilot keeps crashing whilst he landing tho. settings are everything very high but no shadows as they seem buggy.

^^^ Haha same here, he's the worst pilot in history. I gave up eventually and just drove around for that mission.

Hmm, I've just played the first mission, and my team's ai is bugging me horribly. Prime example- I move towards the sniper's position, going from cover to cover. My team stays right in the open, and all get shot by him. I killed him myself, but I'd like this to be one game which I'm not babysitting my team :/

how do you get to the sniper? I kept on timing out before i got anywhere near him (another unit did the job) so jacked a car, everyone piled in drove past the bdrm at the speed of sound and still arived two seconds after 'the other unit did the job'. annoying.

I'm only playing on regular, but I essentially took a simple path towards the pinned US squad, then across the road (that's when my squad was all shot), moved next to a little shack in the industrial bit, leaned out and shot him.

Did it at last. Gotta say the AI is damn annoying, they wander off, identify enemy, get shot, die and the whole thing then has to revert. Fun as **** for the most part though.

it took me about 5 attempts to complete that mission - 3 to work out the sniper bit and get him before he shot up me and my team and before the other unit got the sniper instead, then 2 more times because the level bugged out and crashed my pc! I think it was my fault though for cranking up my 4850 a bit too far...

Onto Manhattan now, impressed with the increased scope of the game i.e more units around, use of armour etc. Also my framerates tonight have inexplicably stayed above 25! (previously been between 17 and 35 depending on scene)

Anyone worked out how to change weapons im bored of my default weapon now its sight is useless.

Im not sure if its different for MP but I wacked everything up full and seems flawless.

Res: 1680x1050
Q6600 at 3.8 (Still only on V1.2)

But I am truely rubbish at the game. Looks like you need to invest some time into the game to play properly.

well i picked this up a few days ago, i like it but my laptop doesn't, heh.

having to run everything scaled back to low, normal or disabled where appropriate - haven't actually played the campaign yet, i'm just having fun in the armoury and the editor. can't wait for my new desktop build so i can get to enjoy it in all its proper graphical glory.

anyone recommend a cheap joystick that works well with arma2?

8GB RAM issues causing low fps

A friend and I have near identical machines apart from I have double the RAM at 8GB. Both installed new ATI HD 4890 cards and set Arma graphic options to the same. To cut a long story short he got 60fps constantly, I was getting 10-20 fps! If opened in 1680x1050 then all I got was black blocks everywhere.

This appears to be an issue mainly with ATI cards with 8GB. To get this working I had to add the -winxp line fix to the target shortcut although I understand this does not work with all machines. Seems crazy cutting your RAM in half so another option is to limit the amount of your RAM via msconfig to a higer number.

Not sure if this has been covered already - apologies if so. Since then it's been amazing :)
