Nope, it's nothing like the CoD series. But to be honest its not like Oblivion or STALKER either.

Download the demo and play around with it to see if you like it or not. Arma 2 is very "marmiteish". You will either love it or hate it.

I know it sounds like a "cop out" but you need to try it for yourself and see. :cool:

First things first, before you attempt to play it and pass judgement on it as a game your system needs to be able to run it well. Depends on a load of different variables how you will be able to run it.

Once you get passed that, again, depending on many variables you will either like it or not. The aiming system can be strange, it's not like any other "normal" FPS.

The entire game gets quite complex further on when you start building bases and buying units etc.

You will die a lot. :D Make sure you save game regularly.

AI can be seriously stupid at times, both on the part of your own team as well as enemy AI.

The control interface is quite confusing, as far as the orders menus go.

All that aside, it's a fantastic game, the scope is HUGE. I'm loving every minute of it even after a few issues I have had with the gameplay and certain missions.
 
Ah, it's not a linear storied fps e.g. like the cod series? Fair, I'll give it a whirl anyway.

I have a :

AMD AM2 6000+ (3.0GHz)
4GB 800Mhz Ram
2x WD Raptors in RAID0
4890 Graphics.

I might be ok, though the bits outside the graphics are a bit of a bottle neck atm I reckon.
 
What training, I skipped to multiplayer deathmatch. Screw the boring stuff, currently most interested in the heli handling

It does seem to run weird in its performance, everything on absolute low is 20fps but most stuff on high with no aa gives me 40fps. I even turned 3d res to 3200x2000 and it did ok

I think it might be to do with how many bots on the server though surely thats server side load. It doesnt appear to take up massive amounts of memory, 1gig on the video card and 2 gig main appears to be enough but still checking that

Excuses, excuses.:D I have had to restart bootcamp missions only a couple of times due to bugs; that said I am only half way through completeing it; that said again, I had a ball in a coop MP last night. My kill death ratio was something like 8 deaths to 1 kill. Sorry to the two guys I killed in my chopper, first mp chopper flight, lifted two guys from base. All good, get in the general direction of objective, check map to be precise, boom, hit a tree and kill us all. :(
I didn't fly again got to practise more.
These ace pilots must use joysticks, no way can I fly like that with a mouse and keyboard or pad, or are they?

i just continued with this mission and i got a radio call saying that loptev (dunno how you spell it) is on the run in a red vehicle. i tried going to where they said go, gort something or other. when i got near there i got a message saying hes escaped and then it moved onto the mission one week later, is that right? is he supposed to escape?

I think there is a time limit to catch him, however, I also think there is a bug here. I'm on this mission, visited all the places but never got a radio message. After doing a quick google a few other people have had this, as I had no idea what to do.

i'm using keyboard and its quite easy once you get the hang of it, i have a problem with them online though, i was on a DM server with choppers and i just couldn't get in the driver seat at all but could get in the gunner seat fine and after running around it for ages it lets me get in but CTD as soon as i did :(

ah ok, i guess its ok just to continue if you dont catch him then.

Totally agree, sounds like they got all the programmers together for an hours overtime and let them loose with a mic.

Just started the game and if im honest I cant remember playing a game that feels as unpolished.
